- Construct new tools and dies as required.
- Review drawings and specifications.
- Design jigs and fixtures.
- Plan and implement the order of operations to manufacture parts.
- Calculate speeds, feeds, and depth of cut.
- Inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, gauge pins, and other tools.
- Machine parts to tight tolerances of 0.005.
- Machine parts to the required surface finish.
- Repair and maintain production tools and dies.
- Troubleshoot tooling equipment and repair it as required.
- Modify dies to conform to engineering changes.
- Work to blueprints, sketches, written and verbal instructions, and basic geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
- Set up and operate drill presses, engine lathes, knee and bed milling machines, surface grinders, inside/outside diameter grinders, honing machines, and computer numerical control lathes and mills.
- Perform basic programming using G-code or conversational programming.
- Handle confidential information on a regular basis.
- Complete work assigned by tool room area or shift leaders.
- Computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing experience.
- Hydraulics and pneumatics experience.
