  • Full licensure to practice medicine in the State of Kansas and/or Oklahoma.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of medicine.
  • Completion of residency in the appropriate specialty.
  • Board certification in the appropriate specialty.
  • A strong community/public health orientation is preferred.
  • Commitment to serving the underserved.
  • Social and cultural sensitivity appropriate to an ethnically and economically diverse patient and employee base.
  • Knowledge of the rationale for appropriate patient care.
  • Ability to communicate through appropriate channels and use the proper chain of command for patient complaints.
  • Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively.
  • Computer literacy, especially with Microsoft Office products, Internet use, and proficiency in the electronic health record.
  • Ability to maintain positive interpersonal relationships with coworkers and other members of the healthcare team and organization.

  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with organizational policies, procedures, and HIPAA requirements.
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, including sitting or standing, using hands, reaching, talking or hearing, and occasionally lifting or moving up to 10 pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Deliver preventive, diagnostic, treatment, patient education, and referral care as part of the medical clinical team.
  • Provide complete, comprehensive outpatient care, including health examinations, treatment of medical conditions, and follow-up of detected problems.
  • Manage acute and chronic illness and routine care through coordinated care plans, including coordination with the patient's behavioral health provider when appropriate.
  • Make appropriate referrals to internal CHC/SEK disciplines and external resources or agencies for additional required services.
  • Prescribe medications for treatment of patient conditions as indicated.
  • Provide clinical consultation to other providers within CHC/SEK as needed.
  • Oversee assigned mid-level providers responsible for providing medical services.
  • Oversee assigned medical students.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and clear medical record documentation.
  • Provide appropriate follow-up with clinical support staff, including telephone or written correspondence to inform patients of test results.
  • Provide clear written and oral communication to patients, guardians, and employees.
  • Participate in an on-call system for after-hours care and care for the CHC/SEK inpatient population as assigned.
  • Weigh the relative costs and benefits of potential actions.
  • Ensure that medical and clinical policies related to CHC/SEK health services remain current and accurate.
