Supplier Quality Engineer

What is this role? 

Cirkul Inc. is growing its quality team and is looking for a Supplier Quality Engineer.  This individual will help to further the quality organization’s ability to support supplier quality operations throughout the business.  Key initiatives include managing supplier management systems, supplier quality manuals, procedures, and improvement activities.

What does an average day look like?

• Driving Results: Develop and maintain a supplier management system, including supplier quality manuals, procedures, scorecards, and improvement activities.  Manage supplier’s key performance indicators and work with supply chain partners for quality issues and coordinate with the supplier to drive timely resolution. 
• Taking Ownership: Monitor the supplier’s quality performance, such as product defects, on-time delivery, and other incidents involving the supplier’s failure to meet established requirements.
• Making Decisions: Perform initial suppliers’ assessments and ongoing supplier audits.  Play a critical role in oversight, development and approval of process validations at supplier sites.  Develop current suppliers’ phase-out plans, and new supplier phase-in to improve overall supply chain performance and coordinate with Supply Chain.
• Cultivating Relationships: Collaborate with suppliers to ensure root causes are documented, corrective actions are documented and corrective actions are taken and sustained.  Ensure supplier-caused quality agreement-related issues have documented root causes and countermeasures in place.  Certify Suppliers - In concert with Procurement and Quality - develop, document and maintain the Quality Assurance Supplier Requirements.
• Instilling Trust: Collaborate with Engineering to define parameters/critical/tolerances to align the supplier’s capability with product requirements.  Document and issue supplier corrective action requests/notifications based on supplier performance.  Maintain the supplier CAR database.  Interface with suppliers as necessary to resolve CAR issues.  Document, issue and resolve audit-related corrective action reports. 
• Customer Focus: Influence at all levels within Cirkul to ensure adherence to the highest standards of product, safety and quality.

What background should you have?

• Candidates should possess a 4-year technical degree; an Engineering degree is preferred. 
• CQE and/or CQA certification is a plus
• Minimum of 6 years of Quality Engineering experience, preferably with high-volume consumer products
• Ability to travel up to 40%
• Ability to exercise professional judgment in identifying organizational improvement.
• Ability to effectively work with cross-functional teams as a change agent, facilitator, coach and mentor.
