- A bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is required.
- At least 10 years of experience with significant airside design is required.
- Demonstrated experience applying FAA criteria and regulations, project management, client management, and staff development is required.
- Business development and marketing experience, including writing proposals, scopes of work, fee proposals, and budgets for projected work, is required.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, vision, and the ability to motivate and manage others are required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
- Strong organization and time management skills are required.
- Strong client management and consultant team management skills are required.
- The ability to manage and mentor staff and direct resources effectively is required.
- The ability to provide practical, results-oriented technical solutions for projects is required.
- A Professional Engineer license is required.
- A valid driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the organization's insurance policy are required.
Responsibilities
- Provide senior-level project management oversight on airport design projects.
- Develop working relationships with airport authorities, state agencies, counties, municipalities, and other consulting firms.
- Provide technical excellence for aviation engineering projects and deliver projects on time and within budget.
- Develop business and market company services in assigned geographic areas.
- Identify and market additional business opportunities with key clients.
- Participate in client relationship management for assigned key clients.
- Participate in proposal presentations and business development activities.
- Use customer relationship management software to track business development opportunities.
- Meet with new and existing clients to discover project information.
- Work with technical staff to develop proposal sections and scopes of work.
- Manage and remain accountable for the financial performance and day-to-day operations of assigned engineering projects, including meeting or exceeding performance metrics.
- Implement growth and sales plans and develop strategic plans for assigned clients and regions.
- Manage and deliver quality aviation projects on time, within budget, and to client satisfaction.
- Conduct job hazard analyses and create jobsite-specific health and safety plans with the Safety Officer when required.
- Mentor and assist junior engineers in developing final design plans.
- Use staff effectively to maximize client value.
- Coordinate work efforts and perform quality-control coordination.
- Foster collaboration between divisions and offices and promote company culture.
- Use project management software for project management, client invoicing, and employee expense and time reporting.
- Serve as the project expert for specific tasks or projects and manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Provide technical direction, develop engineering scopes of work, provide schedule input, assess man-hour requirements, and create budgets for assigned project tasks and phases.
- Mitigate project risk.
- Assign projects to designers and engineers and coordinate team efforts to support projects.
- Manage project scope, document scope changes, and seek amendments for changed work.
- Perform airfield civil engineering design from preliminary through final design, manage bidding, and provide construction-phase services.
- Prepare complex studies, construction documents, drawings, maps, reports, and supporting documentation.
- Provide senior quality-control review and technical direction on projects.
- Review detailed and complex reports describing tests conducted and their results.
- Visit work sites frequently to monitor project progress.
- Communicate with clients about project issues and attend meetings.
- Define scopes of work and man-hour requirements.
- Ensure task and project schedules and budgets are met.
- Develop engineering reports, specifications, and cost estimates and prepare final bid packages.
- Lead or participate in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost, and schedule performance.
- Identify schedule and cost variances and develop and implement corrective-action recommendations.
