Responsibilities
  • Teach two sections of HLS 455, Introduction to Cybersecurity, meeting twice a week on the Durham campus.
  • Provide students with a survey of cybersecurity and information security and assurance, including definitions, public- and private-sector needs, ethical and legal issues, risk management and planning, and information and cybersecurity technology.
  • Cover the role of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in securing cyberspace and the nation’s information-related infrastructure.
  • Introduce students to the fundamentals of corporate security, including the nature, scope, history, and essential elements of organizational or enterprise security in the workplace, with emphasis on the private sector.
  • Teach the operational aspects of security strategies for identifying and controlling security exposures.
  • Teach risk management strategies and applicable legal issues.
  • Teach personal protection and property protection.
  • Teach the role of intelligence.
  • Teach concepts of disaster planning and management.
