  • Practice within the Licensed Practical Nurse scope of practice.
  • Perform and maintain knowledge of vital signs, medication administration, laboratory-value monitoring, pre- and post-procedure resident care, geriatric competency, hospice care, pain management, resident safety, restraints, isolation precautions and personal protective equipment, and resident admission and discharge.
  • Provide written and verbal educational materials to residents, patients and families, and document education according to policy.
  • Transcribe and accurately document physician orders using a computer order-entry system.
  • Accurately reconcile medications upon resident admission and discharge.
Responsibilities
  • Identify and timely report changes in resident status to the Registered Nurse.
  • Update and implement resident plans of care appropriately.
  • Participate in resident feeding and oversee dining areas as assigned.
  • Administer routine services and provide necessary nursing care to sub-acute, chronic and convalescent adult and geriatric residents in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Aid in the orientation of new employees.
