In this role,youwill lead the FGSC and collaborate with faculty, staff, and campus partners to design and implement impactful programs that foster belonging, engagement, and academic success.Youwill identify strategic goals, build partnerships, and champion initiatives that recognize and celebrate the unique strengths first-gen students bring to our community.
Youwill be responsible for developing and overseeing student-facing programs aligned with WSU’s commitment to a transformative and inclusive educational experience. By leveraging existing efforts and coordinating across Student Affairs and other departments,youwill help build infrastructure that supports a student-ready culture and drives retention and graduation outcomes.

Additional Information:
This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position. Overtime eligibility will be determined based on final placement in the salary range.
Monthly Salary:
$4,508.70 - $6,763.06 | Commensurate with experience and qualifications
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:
Positions require a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in a field related to the functional managerial area which has included at least one (1) year of supervisory experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. A Masters degree in a relevant field may be substituted for up to one year of the required experience.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Ability to work under pressure of time and deadlines.
Evidence of excellent oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office software including PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, Excel, Outlook and TEAMS.
Willingness to travel for programmatic and professional development purposes.
Willingness to work a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours on an occasional basis.
Strong problem solving, crisis management, crisis resolution, and listening skills.
Background check required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree
Experience in a higher education setting, providing advising services or career guidance to students who are educationally, economically, and otherwise undeserved.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of factors impacting populations of minoritized students.
