About the job

Responsibilities
  • Establish, approve, and maintain enterprise production standards, operating procedures, and performance expectations, working with group research and development to define methods, controls, and metrics.
  • Direct day-to-day production operations by setting priorities, allocating resources, approving operating plans, and resolving execution issues.
  • Hold leaders and teams accountable for production, cost, quality, and delivery targets by establishing objectives, reviewing results, addressing underperformance, and taking corrective action through coaching, restructuring, or personnel decisions.
  • Direct immediate corrective actions, reallocate resources, change operating approaches, and make leadership changes when production performance, discipline, or results fall short.
  • Serve as the CEO’s primary operating partner for global production matters and integrate production performance and operational risk into an enterprise view.
  • Provide enterprise-level coordination, governance, and technical leadership by defining standards, facilitating cross-regional alignment, challenging assumptions, and ensuring transparent performance reporting.
  • Establish and maintain senior-level working relationships with Regional Presidents and their leadership teams to balance regional and enterprise priorities and apply production standards and capital plans consistently.
  • Establish and maintain global production standards and performance benchmarks across regions and operating units.
  • Provide structured challenges and escalation when production performance, discipline, or execution deviates from agreed standards, supported by data-based analysis, risks, and corrective-action recommendations.
  • Coordinate with regional leadership to embed production standards into local operating practices, management routines, and performance review processes.
  • Drive continuous-improvement initiatives across the global production footprint by identifying bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and cost drivers; sponsoring cross-regional efforts; and ensuring lessons learned are shared and adopted group-wide.
  • Align strategic objectives, capital deployment, and operational execution with production capabilities, capacity plans, improvement initiatives, and approved investment strategies.
  • Evaluate, challenge, and prioritize major proposed investments in global production operations before CEO review and approval by enforcing capital approval standards, reviewing business cases and financial returns, and validating capacity, timing, and readiness.
  • Facilitate resolution of cross-regional capital trade-offs and ensure capital deployment aligns with strategic priorities, production requirements, and risk tolerance.
  • Monitor approved capital investments against financial, operational, and timeline expectations.
  • Hold leaders accountable for identifying and escalating deviations in investment cost, schedule, or performance, and drive timely intervention with the CEO and regional leadership.
  • Ensure post-investment reviews and lessons learned are incorporated into future capital planning and execution discipline.

About the company

Aviagen supplies day-old grandparent and parent stock chicks for broilers, using a large breeding program to improve performance, health, and welfare under brands Arbor Acres, Indian River, Ross, and niche lines Rowan Range and Specialty Males. The birds' genetics are passed to producers via breeders, with selection aided by technologies like pulse oximetry and ultrasound, and backed by strict biosecurity across its global network of production facilities and hatcheries. It differentiates itself through a long lineage from Arbor Acres, Ross, and L.I.R, substantial R&D investment, and a broad portfolio that serves standard and niche markets. Its goal is to help customers provide affordable, nutritious protein by delivering consistent genetic gains and efficient broiler production while safeguarding animal health and the food chain.
