Rocket Lab awarded $30 million contract for HASTE hypersonic rocket launches for Anduril. Long Beach, California. May 7, 2026 - Rocket Lab Corporation (Nasdaq: RKLB), a global leader in launch services and space systems, today announced it has been selected by defense technology company Anduril Industries for multiple hypersonic test flights with its HASTE launch vehicle. The partnership brings together two defense industry leaders to advance one of the Department of War's most critical technology areas: scaled hypersonics that deliver Mach 5 and beyond capabilities for future defense missions. The multi-launch contract includes three HASTE hypersonic test launches that will take place from Rocket Lab Launch Complex 2 in Virginia. Each mission will serve as a testbed to accelerate the development of hypersonic technologies, fully funded through Anduril's own internal capital. This approach underscores Anduril's longstanding commitment to rapidly testing and maturing the capabilities that will define the future of American defense. In a showcase of Rocket Lab's responsive space capabilities, the first of these three missions is set to launch in less than 12 months: demonstrating contract to launch in a matter of months, not years. Rocket Lab founder and CEO, Sir Peter Beck, says: "HASTE represents speed, affordability, and reliable hypersonic technology testing, and that's a powerful combination for the United States' government and industry partners like Anduril. Together, Rocket Lab and Anduril are bridging the gap between hypersonic research and operational deployment as fast as possible to ensure U.S. armed forces maintain a decisive technological advantage." Anduril and Impulse Space join Golden Dome orbital interceptor effort.

Anduril and Impulse Space join Golden Dome orbital interceptor effort. 6 April 2026 Credit: Wikipedia Commons Two US defence-tech startups, Anduril and Impulse Space, are moving into one of the most ambitious elements of Donald Trump's proposed Golden Dome missile defence system: space-based interceptors, reports Bloomberg. What are the interceptors? According to sources familiar with the effort, the Pentagon selected the two companies to develop prototype interceptors designed to track and destroy missiles from orbit. Anduril leads the project, while Impulse Space acts as a subcontractor, providing in-space mobility, including propulsion and manoeuvring systems for interceptor spacecraft. The interceptor concept focuses on detecting, tracking, and engaging missile threats during flight using assets positioned in orbit. The hardware and operational concepts are now in early development. Early contracts and programme structure. The United States Space Force awarded a set of classified contracts in November for interceptor prototypes, each valued at under $9 million. Officials did not publicly disclose the recipients, but Anduril and Impulse are among the companies involved. Golden Dome was established by executive order and remains a classified programme. Officials have released only limited public information, mainly contract announcements and statements, and have provided few technical details. Developers designed the system as a multi-layer missile defence network that combines ground, air, and space components. Company roles and capabilities. Impulse Space, founded in 2021 by former SpaceX propulsion chief Tom Mueller, develops spacecraft for in-space transportation. Its vehicles are capable of moving payloads between orbits and performing orbital manoeuvres, supporting the positioning and deployment of space assets. The company has contracts with NASA, the National Reconnaissance Office, and the US Space Systems Command. Anduril develops autonomous defence systems and the Lattice command-and-control platform, which integrates data from sensors, radars, and satellites. The company has secured multiple Space Force contracts related to space-domain awareness and tracking systems. The two companies have previously partnered on spacecraft combining propulsion systems, sensor payloads, and autonomy software for national security missions. Golden Dome programme scope. Golden Dome includes a space-based interceptor layer intended to operate in orbit alongside ground and airborne systems. The architecture requires coordination between tracking, command-and-control, and interception capabilities across multiple domains. The programme's estimated cost is approximately $185 billion. An initial operational demonstration is targeted for 2028, according to programme lead General Michael Guetlein. Last updated: 6th Apr 2026 Published by Space Enthusiast An amateur rocket enthusiast with a keen interest in all space-related activity. Looking forward to the day when the UK starts launching rockets into space and I'm able to watch launches (from a safe distance of course).
