- A Ph.D. in Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Entomology, or a closely related field is required.
- Research experience or training in molecular biology techniques is required for consideration of the preferred profile.
- Experience with insect physiology, biochemistry, or genetics is preferred.
- Ability to perform molecular biology and genetic techniques, analyze data, and write reports.
- Computer literacy, including the ability to use applicable software to create databases, perform statistical analyses, present data, and complete other computer-related tasks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
- Conduct research activities on insect biology in arthropod systems in a contained laboratory environment.
- Design and perform genetic, proteomic, transcriptomic, imaging, biochemical, and/or physiological experiments to elucidate factors critical for important insect traits, including digestion, feeding, development, reproduction, and DNA repair.
- Collect data, maintain detailed records of results, and use computer programs and databases to conduct analyses.
- Evaluate data, draft figures, prepare research manuscripts, and present findings at conferences.
- Train and supervise research support staff.
- Perform other duties as required.
