CPower and Vertiv partner to help US data centres accelerate grid access with battery storage

Vertiv and CPower Energy have announced a collaboration to help US data centres accelerate grid interconnection by turning battery energy storage systems and other on-site energy assets into grid resources. The partnership integrates Vertiv's EnergyCore Grid BESS with CPower's Virtual Power Plant platform for demand response and grid services. The collaboration initially monetised a 1 MW microgrid at Vertiv's Ohio Customer Experience Center, combining BESS, solar, hydrogen fuel cells and uninterruptible power supply systems. The project generated demand response revenue and on-bill savings whilst supporting PJM, North America's largest grid operator. CPower has paid over $1.4 billion to demand response customers since 2015. The partnership addresses growing power demands as global data centre power usage is estimated to more than double between 2025 and 2030.

Vertiv acquires prefab enclosure maker BMarko.

Vertiv acquires prefab enclosure maker BMarko. Latest deal to help Vertiv with prefabricated data centers April 13, 2026 Data center power and cooling giant Vertiv has acquired a manufacturer of prefabricated and containerized data center enclosures. The company this week announced the acquisition of BMarko Structures, a US-based provider of custom-engineered structural fabrication. Terms of the deal were not shared. Founded in 2014 and headquartered in South Carolina, BMarko specializes in custom-engineered builds, including steel and wood frames suitable for data center requirements. Vertiv said the acquisition will enable it to integrate a critical structural fabrication specialization into its Infrastructure Solutions business in North America, helping it deliver manufactured, prefabricated, and converged infrastructure for data center deployments. "AI is reshaping infrastructure requirements, with customers placing greater demands on time-to-capacity, flexibility, and efficiency across the infrastructure layer," said Gio Albertazzi, CEO of Vertiv. "This acquisition strengthens Vertiv's ability to help customers move faster, with better systems-level performance and control, as infrastructure demands continue to grow in complexity." Since 2014, BMarko has reportedly built more than 500,000 square feet (46,450 sqm) of modular structures across the US. It provides steel modular structures as well as containerized offerings. As well as data centers, the company offers electrical housing to host switchgear as well as enclosures for generators and battery storage systems. Vertiv has acquired a number of companies in recent years to boost its data center offerings. Last month, the company acquired ThermoKey, a provider of heat rejection and heat-exchange technologies. Last year, Vertiv bought automation platform WayLay.io, which develops monitoring and control technologies for power and cooling systems. It also acquired rack maker Great Lakes for $200m and mechanical flushing firm PurgeRite. The firm previously acquired CDU firm CoolTera in 2023 and chiller assets from BiXin Energy Technology Co. in 2024. More in investment / M&A / financing.
