Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Candidates must be listed on the current Michigan CNA Registry or complete an approved Nurse Aide Training program and obtain certification within four months of hire.
  • Candidates must obtain Basic Life Support certification within six months of hire and maintain it.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • Candidates must be able to interpret data and communicate effectively with residents, families, and the healthcare team.
  • Candidates must be able to lift moderately heavy weights up to 50 pounds and assist with heavier tasks as needed.
  • Candidates must maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Candidates must follow safety protocols and maintain ongoing competency development.
Responsibilities
  • Review care plans with nurses at the start of each shift.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, including eating, bathing, and dressing.
  • Respond to call lights and assess residents’ needs.
  • Record vital signs and patient information.
  • Turn and reposition residents for pressure relief.
  • Communicate resident status and interventions to nursing staff.
  • Provide customer service to visitors.
  • Serve meals and assist residents with feeding.
  • Maintain cleanliness of resident rooms and change linens as needed.
  • Document patient data in the electronic medical record.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in long-term care or geriatrics is preferred.
  • Personal Care Assistants may be considered during a temporary exception; pursuing Certified Nursing Assistant certification is encouraged.
