Humaans is building the next generation of infrastructure for the workplace; software designed for companies that are scaling fast, operating globally, and pushing into new boundaries.
What started as a system of record has evolved into a broader platform for operating people globally. With Athena, our agentic AI layer, Humaans moves beyond data management into intelligent orchestration, connecting workflows across HR, IT, Finance, and Operations so organisations can act faster and with greater confidence, redefining how work gets done.
We work with ambitious teams across Europe and the US, from AI-native companies like Lovable, Poolside, Fyxer AI, and Tandem Health, to established, high-growth organisations scaling internationally and through acquisition, including Quantexa, Sellpy, Manychat, Gigs, Croud, and Threecolts. These teams don’t buy software for features, they buy leverage. The ability to run faster, cleaner, and with more control as complexity compounds.
To date, we’ve raised $20m in venture funding from some of the most respected founders, operators, and funds in technology: Lachy Groom (Physical Intelligence), Stewart Butterfield (Slack), Tobias Lütke (Shopify), Dylan Field (Figma), Jeff Weiner (LinkedIn), Claire Johnson (Stripe), Oliver Jay (OpenAI), Jay Simmons (Bond) as well as Y Combinator, Moonfire, Frontline Ventures, Pathlight Ventures, and Exor.
If you have massive ambition and want to work on a hard problem, with a small team that moves fast, at a moment when the category is genuinely up for grabs - this is it.
After proving our product and operating model internationally, we’re expanding into the US from San Francisco. This role is about bringing Athena AI Agents there first.
As our Founding Enterprise Account Executive in the US, you’ll be responsible for winning Athena’s first wave of customers: companies ready to rethink how work gets done with agentic AI. You’ll own deals from first conversation to close, while helping us learn which customers to target, how to position Athena and why we win.
You won’t be joining a mature sales machine. You’ll work closely with our founders, Product and Customer Success teams to build the US motion as we go, turning early wins into patterns we can repeat and scale. It’s a hands-on role with significant ownership and a direct influence on how we take Athena to market in the US.
Own and build a full-cycle Athena pipeline in the US, from prospecting through to close
Run thoughtful discovery with senior stakeholders across HR, Finance, Operations and AI
Sell outcomes rather than features, helping customers understand what becomes possible when autonomous agents take on workflows rather than simply adding another tool
Build and execute creative outbound strategies to open doors and create demand
Navigate complex sales cycles and close $100k+ ARR opportunities with senior decision-makers
Work directly with our founders, Product and Customer Success teams on live opportunities
Develop a deep understanding of Athena and agentic AI so you can lead credible conversations with both executive and operational audiences
Use AI and data throughout your own workflow to research accounts, improve outreach and increase your leverage
Turn what works across our earliest US deals into messaging, processes and playbooks we can repeat as the team grows
Spend time with prospects in person, whether at their offices, events or industry conferences
4–6 years of B2B SaaS sales experience, with a consistent track record of hitting or exceeding quota in competitive environments
Experience closing $100k+ ARR deals and navigating complex buying processes with senior executives
A hunter mentality — you enjoy opening doors, creating opportunities and staying persistent when getting someone's attention isn't easy
Strong discovery skills and the ability to communicate effectively with both executive and operator audiences
Comfort operating with ambiguity, evolving messaging and changing priorities
A bias towards action — you’d rather test, learn and iterate than wait for perfect information
Genuine curiosity about AI and a habit of using AI and data to improve how you work
Ambition, resilience and the motivation to build something rather than inherit it
Strong self-management and communication across time zones
Willingness to travel regularly to meet prospects and customers in person
You dislike cold outreach or expect pipeline to be generated for you. At this stage, you’ll own your pipeline coverage and hunting is a core part of the role
You rely on strong brand recognition to open doors. We’re still establishing Athena in the US, so you’ll need to enjoy creating attention and evangelising something new
You’d rather leave the technical or AI conversation to someone else. Athena is fast-moving, and the best person for this role will want to understand the product deeply enough to speak about it with conviction
You need a fully developed sales playbook, established messaging or lots of structure before you can perform
You prefer executing an existing GTM motion to experimenting, learning from early deals and helping shape one
You’re not keen on travel. Getting in front of prospects at their offices, events and conferences will be an important part of how we win
This is an in-person role. Our team comes together in the office Monday through Thursday, while most of the team collaborates in person on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.
Early stage startups can be messy – we know that. We're putting effort in providing you with the best employee experience and a quality driven environment in exchange for trusting us.
Market-leading compensation that reflects your value
25 days paid time off each year plus public holidays
Share Options with 5-year exercise window so you don’t feel pressure to exercise if you leave
Quarterly team events, and company offsites
Top tier private coverage for health, vision and dental care
A new MacBook and tools you need to do your best work
Enhanced parental leave with up to 16 weeks for primary and 4 weeks for secondary
Learning & development budget
HR tech is having its AI moment and we’re positioned to own it. Humaans started as a next-gen HRIS taking on large incumbents in a massive market. We’ve since evolved into something even bigger: an AI platform that sits across workforce data and automates the operational layer of HR entirely; the natural progression of what we’ve been building toward.
The product is highly differentiated. It’s built around a structured workforce data model that makes AI reliable in an HR context, something no one else has gotten right. Customers notice the difference immediately.
We’re backed by Y Combinator, Lachy Groom, Moonfire, Frontline Ventures, and operators who’ve built some of the most consequential software companies of the last decade: the founders of Slack, Figma, and Shopify, and Asana’s former CRO and Head of OpenAI International.
We’re a small team with an unapologetically high bar. It shows up in the product, in how we communicate, and in the standards we hold each other to.
At Humaans we’re looking for genuinely good people that are transparent and emphatic. We’re committed to providing equal opportunities, a diverse and inclusive work environment, and ensuring a fair interview process for everyone. You’re welcome to apply no matter your gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, civil or family status, age, disability, or race.
We care about your privacy. When you apply for a role at Humaans, we’ll collect and process your personal data as part of our recruitment process. This includes things like your CV, contact details, and any other information you choose to share. We may also contact you about future opportunities. You can ask us to delete your data at any time. For more details, see our Privacy Policy.

Humaans expands into US Payroll as it accelerates US growth. Aug 23, 2026 Humaans US Payroll will begin rolling out this fall, bringing payroll execution into the same platform that powers workforce data, automation and AI agents. United Kingdom, August 23, 2026 - Humaans, the workforce technology company behind the agentic AI platform Athena, today announced its expansion into US payroll. Humaans Payroll will begin rolling out to its first customers this fall, marking another major step in the company's expansion into the US and further upmarket. Over the past few years, Humaans has continued to build on its core system of record, giving companies more ways to manage their workforce from a single platform. That has included the launch of AI-powered Employee Engagement which turns workforce feedback into actionable insights, and Athena, a system-agnostic agentic AI platform that enables organizations to deploy AI agents across People, IT and Finance. Payroll is a natural next step. Much of the information needed to run payroll from compensation and employment details to changes in a person's role or location, already lives in the workforce record. Bringing payroll into that same foundation means companies can keep their workforce data connected while reducing the manual work involved in keeping information up to date. "Everything required to pay someone correctly is the consequence of events the system of record already owns," said Giovanni Luperti, CEO and co-founder of Humaans. "Someone joins, moves state, gets promoted, changes compensation, takes leave or receives a bonus. Yet every pay cycle, teams still spend enormous amounts of time reconstructing that context for payroll. Wyoming Inquiry think payroll should begin the moment something changes in the workforce, not when someone sits down at the end of the pay cycle to prepare it." Deepening Humaans' US expansion The US has become an increasingly important market for Humaans, and the company is investing more heavily in its presence there. A growing share of its customers are based in the US, while many of the international organizations it works with already have employees there or are expanding into the market. Payroll is a natural extension of that growth. Managing employees across multiple states brings added complexity around taxes, benefits, employment arrangements and workforce changes, much of which still sits across disconnected systems. Much of the market is still built around legacy systems, and Humaans sees an opportunity to take a different approach, combining better infrastructure and connected workforce data with automation and AI. "The US is a market we care deeply about," said Luperti. "We're seeing growing demand both from US companies and from international organizations expanding here. We want Humaans to support those companies as they grow, while keeping their workforce data and operations deeply connected as they scale." More broadly, Humaans believes AI will push organizations to rethink both how they operate and the technology they rely on. That thinking extends to payroll, where the goal is to move beyond simply digitizing the same monthly processes and instead build a system around an accurate workforce record from the start. Payroll built for US complexity Humaans Payroll will support businesses across all 50 states and Washington, DC, including W-2 employees and 1099 contractors. It will support weekly, biweekly, semimonthly, monthly, quarterly and annual pay cadences, with tax calculations, payments and filings built directly into the payroll experience. Changes to compensation, employment, location and leave will flow directly from the workforce record into payroll, carrying the relevant effective dates and approvals with them. For People and Finance teams, that means less manual preparation and reconciliation, fewer opportunities for errors, and a much clearer path from workforce change to payday. Beyond systems of record: Building for the AI era Humaans believes AI fundamentally changes what a workforce software is capable of. Rather than simply recording information or helping people complete tasks, softwares can increasingly understand context, navigate workflows and take action on behalf of HR teams. Athena is designed to address this by taking on administrative work and coordinating workflows. Payroll isn't just another product for Humaans. It gives the platform another important area where workforce changes can be understood and acted on automatically. Over time, a promotion, for example, could automatically trigger the relevant compensation workflow, assess its impact on payroll, prepare the necessary changes, flag any exceptions, and surface only the decisions that require human judgment or approval. "We don't believe the next generation of workplace technology will look like today's SaaS products with an AI assistant added on top," said Luperti. "AI changes what software itself can do, from giving people better tools to understanding context, reasoning across systems and increasingly executing work on their behalf. That's the shift we're designing Humaans around." Availability Humaans Payroll will begin rolling out with its first US customers this fall. Companies interested in joining the initial rollout can contact Humaans to learn more. For companies operating outside the US, Humaans will continue to support payroll through its ecosystem of integrations with both local and global payroll providers. Humaans unveils Athena: the Agentic AI platform redefining how companies get work done. GetNews - TGAM - GetNews - Wed Nov 12, 7:28PM CST Humaans, the company behind one of the most loved and design-forward HR systems on the market, announced today the launch of Athena, a new AI platform built to transform how HR functions and organizations operate. Athena introduces a new category of enterprise software: Agentic AI for HR and Operations - a foundational step toward fully AI-native organizations. For the past two decades, enterprise software has been static. Systems dictated rigid processes, and companies reshaped themselves to fit the vendor's mould; but the world has changed. In just five years, organizations have had to reinvent themselves for remote work, hyper-growth, layoffs, efficiency mandates, and now, AI-driven automation. The rate of change has outpaced the rigidity of legacy systems. Athena represents the new cycle of enterprise software - one that is fluid, adaptive, and orchestrated through intelligent agents that assist employees at scale and act on data, not just storing it. Built on Humaans' best-in-class HR foundation and designed to work seamlessly with any HRIS and other systems, Athena turns data into action. It uses agentic AI to autonomously run routine processes, handle repetitive tasks, surface actionable insights, and amplify the impact of every HR, Finance, Ops, and IT team. "We're entering a new product era," said Giovanni Luperti, CEO and Co-Founder of Humaans. "The last generation of SaaS software was prescriptive - it told you how to work. The next generation will be open-ended and adaptive, built around how your organization actually operates. Humaans Athena is designed for AI-native enterprises that need flexibility, speed, and intelligence in every process." With Athena, Humaans is giving companies a scalable extension of their workforce; a layer of intelligent automation that saves thousands of hours and operates at a fraction of the human cost. By eradicating manual work, Athena helps organizations meet today's efficiency mandates and reallocate time toward strategy, creativity, and growth, the true drivers of performance in the AI era. At its core, Humaans now combines two foundational layers for the AI-native enterprise: This dual architecture allows Humaans to act as both the brain and the nervous system of today's organizations, enabling seamless automation across onboarding, performance management, approvals, contract management, compliance, and more. Early use cases demonstrate how Athena reshapes day-to-day operations: - Intelligent Onboarding: Athena autonomously creates and sequences onboarding workflows, loops in managers, and schedules the right events, adapting to each team's structure, location, and needs. - Data Intelligence: By connecting different systems, Athena can surface trends, identify risk areas, and collect additional intel to help take actions. - Workflow Automation: HR and Ops teams can describe what they need in natural language: "Set up an offboarding workflow for departing engineers in EMEA". Athena builds and deploys the process instantly. - Helpdesk Agent: Athena acts as a conversational teammate that answers people-related questions, triggers workflows, and provides context in real time. Always on and available 24/7, it resolves up to 70% of queries autonomously and helps teams handle the rest faster and more efficiently. "HR, Finance, Ops, and IT are full of inefficiencies," said Luperti. "AI agents can unlock massive productivity and fundamentally reshape how these teams operate. Athena starts by capturing ownership of workflows legacy systems can't support, and progressively transforms how the enterprise functions." Athena marks the beginning of a new software category; one that bridges the gap between traditional systems of record and the new wave of agentic automation. Unlike legacy HR platforms, Athena doesn't store data, it acts on it. It understands context, adapts to change, and orchestrates work across systems. All driven by a natural language user experience. "Incumbents can't adapt to this new cycle," added Luperti. "Their architectures are old, their release cycles slow, and they weren't built for a world that reorganizes itself every six months. Athena is designed for the organizations building the future, the ones who see AI as an extension of their workforce, not a bolt-on." Athena is currently available in private access with select Enterprise customers. Humaans plans to expand access this Fall as part of its broader vision to build the AI-native workplace stack, redefining how companies manage, automate, and scale their people operations in the age of intelligent software. About Humaans Humaans is building the next generation of HR infrastructure: flexible, powerful, data-driven, and beautifully designed. Trusted by some of the world's most forward-thinking Mid-Market companies, including Lovable, Poolside, and Quantexa, Humaans helps organizations automate processes, connect systems, and drive performance. Headquartered in London, Humaans is backed by leading investors including Y Combinator, Lachy Groom, Moonfire, Frontline, and Exor, and is now pioneering the future of agentic AI for Enterprises with Athena.
