Requirements

  • Less than one year of prior claims experience is required.
  • Moderate computer literacy.
  • Advanced organization and planning skills.

  • Occasional travel to off-site business meetings or conferences.
Responsibilities
  • Communicate with insureds, claimants, and other individuals, and explain benefits, coverages, fault, and the claims process in compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements.
  • Conduct phone and field investigations to determine liability and damages, and obtain statements from insureds, claimants, and witnesses.
  • Evaluate and determine claim values using property, medical, and liability data.
  • Negotiate within settlement authority with insureds and claimants to resolve first- and third-party claims.
  • Handle administrative functions, update database production reports, and document and update claim files using company systems such as CACS, HUON, and HOC.
  • Verify and interpret coverage by gathering information to determine policy applicability, and coordinate with internal and external departments.
  • Identify cross-sell opportunities based on members' product needs and service requests, and provide sales leads to appropriate departments.
  • Analyze claims independently and differentiate between allegations and facts.
  • Determine policy obligations by assessing the liability and damage components of losses.
  • Resolve claim exposures independently within the assigned level of authority.
  • Respond promptly to customer needs and problems.
