JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

We are searching for a motivated undergraduate student to join the Systems Manufacturing Department at the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State. This internship will concentrate on combustion of novel chemistries.

Typical focus areas include:

Combustion
Thermodynamics
Robotics
Automation

Students majoring in the following fields are encouraged to apply:

Mechanical Engineering

Interest Skills/Experience areas include:

Thermodynamics, combustion chemistry and thermodynamic analysis of various cycles.
Mechanical Engineering – robotics and automation of manufacturing processes.
Additive manufacturing (a.k.a. 3D printing), powder processing.
Ability to work independently and maintain a predictable work schedule
Past success in presenting results in written format (Word, Powerpoint) and in weekly meetings

Security Clearance language: Current eligibility for access to classified information at the Secret level or higher is preferred. You may also be subject to a government background investigation to upgrade clearance eligibility, if required.

You will work up to 20 hours/week during the fall and spring semesters and have the opportunity to work up to 40 hours/week over the summer. This is a paid internship opportunity, and location will be fully on-site located in State College, PA.
