Requirements
  • Possess, at minimum, a nursing degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Have training in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices.
  • Have two or more years of experience, preferably in a long-term care facility.
  • Read, write, speak, and understand English; read technical procedures and policy and procedure manuals; and present information and respond to questions from managers and employees.
  • Apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Make independent decisions, solve practical problems, and exercise leadership and supervisory ability.
  • Plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures necessary to provide quality care.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of residents.
  • Know nursing and medical practices and procedures and the laws, regulations, and guidelines applicable to nursing care facilities.
  • Possess a current, unencumbered, active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
  • Hold current CPR certification.
  • Maintain required continuing education and licensing and remain in good standing with the State Board of Nursing.
  • Meet the facility's general health requirements, including a medical and physical examination.
  • Move intermittently throughout the workday and push, pull, move, or carry at least 25 pounds for at least 50 feet, including assisting with resident evacuation when necessary.
  • Work effectively with residents, personnel, support agencies, and individuals who may be ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, or hostile.
Responsibilities
  • Supervise and manage the day-to-day nursing activities and nursing staff during the assigned tour of duty.
  • Assist the Director of Nursing Services in directing nursing-service functions and maintaining compliance with applicable standards, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Develop, maintain, and update nursing-service policies, procedures, manuals, job descriptions, and reference materials.
  • Ensure nursing-service personnel comply with procedures, job descriptions, safety rules, infection-control procedures, hand-hygiene requirements, and medication and supply controls.
  • Prepare written and oral reports and recommendations concerning nursing-service operations and resident status.
  • Coordinate nursing services with other resident services to maintain continuity of care.
  • Participate in quality-assurance programs, facility surveys, committee meetings, care-plan meetings, discharge planning, and implementation of committee recommendations.
  • Admit, transfer, and discharge residents and complete required accident and incident reports, medical forms, evaluations, studies, and charting.
  • Ensure adequate staffing of registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, certified nursing assistants, and nurse aide trainees for the assigned shift.
  • Develop work assignments, delegate authority and accountability to charge nurses, monitor absenteeism, conduct rounds, review grievances, and evaluate workforce needs.
  • Participate in employee performance evaluations, determine staffing requirements, and recommend dismissals, transfers, and other personnel actions.
  • Provide and oversee direct nursing care, resident assessments, care plans, treatments, medication administration, monitoring, and documentation.
  • Start intravenous lines, collect specimens, take vital signs, monitor seriously ill residents, and report changes in resident condition to physicians, families, and the Director.
  • Review medication cards, treatment schedules, nurses' notes, care plans, and medical records for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Arrange transportation for discharged residents, notify families of resident deaths, and contact funeral homes when requested.
  • Develop and conduct in-service training, assist with clinical supervision of nurse aide trainees, and participate in continuing education.
  • Maintain safety, sanitation, infection-control, emergency preparedness, personal protective equipment, equipment-operation, and hazardous-material procedures.
  • Recommend and monitor nursing-service equipment and supply needs, stock levels, preventive maintenance, safe equipment operation, and supply efficiency.
  • Participate in developing and revising resident assessments, comprehensive care plans, minimum data set processes, and care-plan reviews.

PACS Group has appointed Carey P. Hendrickson as chief financial officer, effective 27 April 2026. Hendrickson brings nearly four decades of financial leadership across healthcare, senior living and media sectors. Most recently, Hendrickson served as CFO of U.S. Physical Therapy, overseeing 779 outpatient clinics across 44 states. He previously held CFO roles at Capital Senior Living Corporation, managing 128 communities across 23 states, and Belo Corp. PACS Group has announced that co-founder and chief financial officer Mark Hancock will retire on 30 June 2026. He will continue serving on the company's board of directors as vice chairman. Hancock co-founded PACS in 2013 with Jason Murray, starting with two post-acute care facilities in San Diego. Under his leadership, the company expanded to 323 facilities across 17 states, serving over 31,700 patients daily and generating $5.29 billion in revenue in 2025, representing 29.3% year-on-year growth. Dr Conway currently serves as CEO of Optum, UnitedHealth Group's health services division with revenues exceeding $200 billion.
