Responsibilities
  • Lead the strategic development, enhancement, governance, and maintenance of the Global Healthcare product portfolio, including policy forms, endorsements, manuscript language, coverage solutions, underwriting tools, forms libraries, and product guidance materials.
  • Establish and execute a multi-year product strategy and product-development roadmap supporting business objectives, underwriting strategies, profitability goals, market opportunities, customer needs, emerging risks, and competitive positioning.
  • Serve as the principal product leader for all Global Healthcare lines of business, ensuring product consistency, coverage clarity, operational effectiveness, and alignment with underwriting philosophies and risk appetite.
  • Oversee the development, revision, and implementation of policy forms, endorsements, and manuscript wording to comply with regulatory amendments, state-specific changes, segment-specific initiatives, and product maintenance needs.
  • Design, implement, and oversee a structured product governance framework supporting product intake, prioritization, approval, implementation, documentation, communication, monitoring, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Establish governance controls, documentation standards, product inventories, version-control protocols, decision logs, implementation procedures, and audit-ready product records, and maintain a centralized product repository.
  • Partner with Global Healthcare Underwriting leadership to translate strategic priorities, portfolio objectives, risk appetite, customer needs, distribution feedback, and marketplace developments into actionable product solutions.
  • Provide senior product expertise to underwriting teams on coverage interpretation, endorsement availability, form intent, manuscript language, product application, and complex product-related account issues.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, Regulatory Affairs, Product Architecture, Operations, Technology, Claims, Risk Control, Underwriting, and Actuarial throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Ensure product development and maintenance processes support regulatory alignment, underwriting policy requirements, compliance standards, audit expectations, documentation protocols, and enterprise governance practices.
  • Monitor emerging healthcare, legal, regulatory, technological, and insurance-market trends that may require product modification, underwriting guidance, or governance review.
  • Lead product assessments and response strategies related to emerging exposures and evolving healthcare issues, including artificial intelligence, cyber liability, telemedicine, digital health technologies, private equity ownership of healthcare organizations, wearable devices, environmental liability concerns, PFAS-related risks, abuse and molestation exposures, healthcare workforce challenges, and evolving standards of care.
  • Serve as an active member of the Global Healthcare Product Board and related subcommittees, providing information on the identification, prioritization, evaluation, implementation, and monitoring of product initiatives.
  • Support business planning, portfolio reviews, profitability studies, pricing strategies, growth plans, and underwriting action plans through product expertise and strategic consultation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve product consistency, reduce ambiguity, strengthen governance controls, improve speed to market, and reduce operational, compliance, and continuity risks.
  • Develop and deliver product training, underwriting guidance, communication materials, and tools to support consistent product understanding and execution across Global Healthcare underwriting teams.
  • Evaluate competitor products, policy language, market innovations, industry best practices, and distribution trends to inform product strategy and identify opportunities for differentiation.
  • Lead, manage, coach, and develop product-development professionals, with emphasis on accountability, technical excellence, execution discipline, talent development, and succession planning.
  • Communicate with senior leaders, underwriting teams, business partners, and other stakeholders regarding product priorities, product strategy, emerging risks, governance actions, and implementation plans.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree.
  • Professional insurance designations such as Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter, Registered Professional Liability Underwriter, Associate in Risk Management, Associate in Surplus Lines Insurance, or comparable credentials.
  • Healthcare insurance industry experience, including knowledge of Medical Professional Liability and related healthcare casualty products.

CNA Insurance, a U.S. commercial property and casualty insurance company, has promoted Claire Louko to Senior Vice President, North America Reinsurance. Based in Chicago, Illinois, Louko will be responsible for the teams managing reinsurance services, claims, operations, contracts and the firm's corporate insurance programmes, in addition to her current responsibilities for ceded reinsurance placement. She brings nearly two decades of industry experience, with expertise spanning property and casualty insurance, underwriting, commercial insurance, financial risk and more. CNA FINANCIAL ANNOUNCES FIRST QUARTER 2026 NET INCOME OF $0.78 PER SHARE AND CORE INCOME OF $0.83 PER SHARE * Net income of $211 million versus $274 million in the prior year quarter; core income of $225 million versus $281 million in the prior year quarter. * P&C core income of $248 million versus $311 million, reflects lower underlying underwriting results and unfavorable prior period development partially offset by higher net investment income. * Life & Group core loss of $9 million versus core income of $6 million in the prior year quarter. * Corporate & Other core loss of $14 million versus $36 million in the prior year quarter. * Net investment income of $610 million, reflects an $18 million increase from fixed income securities and other investments to $568 million and a $12 million decrease from limited partnerships and common stock to $42 million. * P&C combined ratio of 102.2%, compared with 98.4% in the prior year quarter, including a 3.6 point impact related to catastrophes compared with 3.8 points in the prior year quarter.
