Your foundation for a civil engineering career, built alongside mentors who invest in you. As a Civil Designer I, you will work under the close guidance of licensed engineers and senior designers while you build the technical foundation for a long-term career at Thomas & Hutton. You'll pair classroom knowledge with hands-on project experience, developing your CADD and Civil 3D skills on real land-development projects from day one.

What You'll Do:

Perform specific, well-defined portions of a broader assignment under the close supervision of an experienced engineer or designer
Build proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and related engineering software through mentored, project-based work
Complete drafting tasks for assigned projects, coordinating with CADD and engineering technicians as needed
Assist in preparing construction plans, specifications, reports, studies, cost estimates, and permit applications using company and industry standards
Perform basic computations and analyses, and gather or organize project data and documentation
Observe construction activities in the field to connect design work with real-world execution
Receive close, hands-on mentoring from a licensed civil engineer on all aspects of assigned work

What You Bring:

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology from an ABET/EAC-accredited program

EIT/EI certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire

Basic working knowledge of AutoCAD; exposure to Civil 3D preferred

Basic written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while following prescribed methods

Strong attention to detail and a genuine drive to learn from experienced mentors
