Requirements
  • A Bachelor's and Master's degree are required, with one of the degrees in Nursing.
  • An advanced level of knowledge acquired through formal and continuing education in Nursing, health policy, regulatory compliance, process redesign and management is essential.
  • Extensive clinical nursing and management experience with a minimum of seven years in senior nursing leadership roles is required.
  • Nursing leadership experience in an academic medical center or complex healthcare organization is required, preferably in a healthcare system.
  • Knowledge and experience in Magnet principles and prior experience in a Magnet facility are required.
  • Knowledge of nursing staffing methods, retention, recruitment, and finance is required, along with strategic-thinking, problem-solving and analytical skills.
Responsibilities
  • Build and lead a strong nursing leadership team committed to high standards of nursing practice and quality patient care.
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for nursing at Jefferson Abington/Lansdale.
  • Participate in integrated financial and strategic planning and develop the hospital operating plan focused on quality and safety, patient and family experience, people, growth, finance and operations.
  • Serve as the senior clinical executive in partnership with the Chief Operating Officer, Chief Medical Officer and Chief Quality Officer, with responsibility for quality and safety, financial stewardship, technology management, ethics, teaching and research.
  • Ensure delivery of highly reliable nursing care and patient- and family-centered care reflected in nursing policy and decision-making.
  • Build and sustain a culture of accountability and ensure nursing practices are based on patient- and family-centered care and high reliability throughout nursing and the broader organization.
  • Ensure the development, implementation and evaluation of evidence-based nursing policies, programs and services consistent with professional standards and Jefferson Health practice.
  • Provide innovative leadership and direction supporting the mission and divisional goals of Jefferson Abington/Lansdale.
  • Transform organizational values, goals and objectives into daily operations resulting in quality, efficient, effective, caring and respectful services.
  • Collaborate with medical staff, nursing leadership, and clinical, financial and operational leaders to deliver cost-effective, high-quality clinical services and outcomes with affiliate organizations and providers.
  • Drive outcomes in patient-centered care to make Jefferson Abington/Lansdale the hospital of choice for patients and employees.
  • Build collaborative partnerships through strategic planning, shared decision-making, medical staff relationships, diversity, equity and inclusion, relationship management and community involvement.
  • Use healthcare financing, human resource management, professional development, strategic management, marketing, information management and technology development to oversee nursing operations.
  • Prepare and manage fiscal-year budget plans, identify operational needs through the budget planning process, and ensure the nursing leadership team operates within the approved budget.
  • Demonstrate personal and professional accountability, ethical evidence-based clinical and management practice, and advocacy for the clinical enterprise and professional nursing practice, including the Jefferson College of Nursing.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior Chief Nursing Officer experience is preferred.
  • Doctoral preparation is strongly preferred.
