Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED, or 10 years of work experience.
  • For Wisconsin locations, graduation from a medical assistant school or training program, or an education equivalent for certification, is also required.
  • Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association is required.
  • One of the following medical assistant credentials is required: Certified Clinical Medical Assistant from the National Healthcareer Association; Certified Medical Assistant from the American Association of Medical Assistants; Clinical Medical Assistant Certification from the American Medical Certification Association; Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant credential from an accepted certifying organization, including the American Allied Health Association, National Center for Competency Testing, National Association for Health Professionals, American Association of Medical Personnel, American Medical Technologists, American Registry of Medical Assistants, or other listed certifying bodies.
  • The role requires constant standing and walking, frequent oral communication, hearing, lifting or carrying objects weighing 0–25 pounds, reaching, gripping, and keyboard or data-entry use.
  • The role requires occasional bending, stooping, crawling, kneeling, sitting, squatting, repetitive foot or limb movements, lifting or moving patients, lifting or carrying objects weighing 25–50 pounds, and driving.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with provider-ordered treatments under the supervision of a provider or registered nurse and perform selected clinical duties.
  • Interview patients, measure vital signs, record patient information in charts, and prepare examination rooms.
  • Perform clerical duties including answering phones, maintaining records, scheduling patients, and filing.
  • Order and stock supplies and help maintain a clean and orderly environment.
  • Document provider encounters with patients when assigned, including diagnoses, symptoms, follow-up instructions, and prescriptions as indicated by the provider.
  • Transcribe provider orders for laboratory tests, radiology tests, and medications.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
