Requirements
  • At least 5 years of experience as a radiology department head is required.
  • An understanding of all imaging modalities for inpatient and outpatient markets is required.
  • Experience with budgets, expense management, and revenue cycle is required.
  • Experience with strategic radiology planning, equipment fleet management, and business development is required.
  • A Bachelor's Degree is required.
  • Graduation from an American Medical Association-approved school for Radiologic Technology is required.
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the critical issues impacting radiology practice on a national and regional scale is required.
  • The candidate must be capable of developing programs and structures to maximize clinical quality and safety and employee and physician engagement.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Well-developed organizational, analytical, and negotiating skills are required.
  • Literacy in Microsoft Office software, Radiology Information Systems, and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems is required.
  • Technical expertise in utilizing and deploying information technology products essential to radiology is required.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee the effective and efficient delivery of radiology operations and services across the enterprise.
  • Partner with the Chief or Chair Radiologist and other stakeholders to develop and refine radiology programs and services aligned with organizational initiatives and objectives.
  • Continuously identify ways to improve or enhance services and processes and follow up on customer concerns and suggestions for improvement.
  • Use industry and technical resources, Studer, and Press Ganey to maximize results.
  • Create and maintain a culture of excellent service by ensuring leadership requirements are in place and staff consistently follow Cooper experience standards.
  • Monitor metrics and adjust operations to maximize efficiency and utilization, patient access, patient experience, patient and employee safety, quality outcomes, financial outcomes, and overall department effectiveness.
  • Maintain readiness and compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards, address deficiencies, and prepare the department and staff for new regulations and best practices.
  • Collaborate with the AVP, institute and physician leaders, and joint venture partners to understand growth plans and expected changes affecting radiology, and plan services accordingly.
  • Recruit, retain, and develop a high-performing radiology leadership team.
  • Invest in continuing education and development and develop bench strength to support succession planning.
  • Identify improvement opportunities and develop viable solutions.
  • Collaborate with Radiology Information Systems, Picture Archiving and Communication Systems, and information systems support to optimize systems.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders and cascade information appropriately.
Desired Qualifications
  • At least 10 years of experience is preferred.
  • A Master's Degree in a related health care field or business is preferred.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification is preferred.
  • Certified Radiology Administrator certification is preferred at hire or to be achieved within 12 months of hire.
