About the job

Requirements
  • Experience in security, compliance, risk, audit, privacy, vendor risk, or a related field involving evaluation of whether expectations are being met.
  • Hands-on SOC 2 experience, including supporting Type I or Type II audits, testing controls, validating evidence, coordinating with auditors, and tracking remediation through completion.
  • Understanding that evidence must actually prove the associated control.
  • Ability to connect policy or framework requirements to real-world people and system activities.
  • Familiarity with SOC 2, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, or similar security and compliance frameworks.
  • Ability to write clearly about complex requirements for audiences unfamiliar with security frameworks.
  • Ability to identify inconsistencies, missing information, and unsupported answers.
  • Comfort asking follow-up questions and respectfully challenging issues that require closer examination.
  • Ability to organize multiple workstreams, meet deadlines, and follow through.
  • Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical teams and explain why requirements matter.
  • Ability to take ownership, exercise judgment, work independently, and escalate when appropriate.
  • Interest in evolving governance for artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies.
Responsibilities
  • Own GRC workstreams from the initial request through evidence collection, testing, remediation, and completion.
  • Help maintain audit readiness throughout the year.
  • Test security controls to determine whether they are operating effectively rather than merely confirming that documentation exists.
  • Conduct risk assessments, identify meaningful gaps, and help teams develop realistic and effective remediation plans.
  • Map controls across SOC 2 and other frameworks so a single strong control can satisfy multiple requirements.
  • Coordinate recurring access reviews, control testing, policy reviews, risk updates, and audit evidence requests.
  • Review vendors and help determine whether their security practices meet organizational expectations.
  • Support customer security questionnaires by locating, validating, and consistently presenting accurate information.
  • Translate compliance requirements into clear actions for teams unfamiliar with GRC.
  • Draft and maintain policies, standards, control narratives, risk records, metrics, and other program documentation.
  • Track findings and remediation commitments, follow up with owners, and keep issues progressing to closure.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify and automate repetitive GRC work so the program can scale.
  • Help develop governance approaches for emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence products, agents, and new data-handling methods.
