  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
  • Six to ten years of experience.
  • Experience managing the engineering-to-commissioning lifecycle for at least five AIS and GIS substation projects rated 66 kV or above.
  • Hands-on experience in at least one STATCOM, SVC, mobile substation, or prefabricated substation power-quality improvement project.
  • In-depth knowledge of substation design calculations, including SCF, SAG, earthing, DSLP, lighting, conductor sizing, high-voltage and medium-voltage cable sizing, and transformer sizing.
  • Experience standardizing design-calculation templates, reviewing and optimizing cost, identifying risks, and proposing alternate solutions.
  • Experience with substation layout engineering for OEL, earthing, cable routing, and DSLP layouts.
  • Expertise in Cymgrd, Cymcab, DIALux, ETAP, and CDEGS for design calculation, optimization, and validation.
  • Competency in Revit with ACC and AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of safety aspects in engineering and their application.
  • Knowledge of IEC and IEEE standards and utility-based practices, including SEC, TAQA, EWA, DEWA, and SEWA.
  • Ability to work independently using established standards and in-depth knowledge in a specific area.
  • Ability to coordinate across engineering, tendering, project management, supply-chain management, secondary, civil and steel design, consultant, and customer functions.
  • Ability to communicate in English.

Responsibilities
  • Act as the engineering authority for low- to medium-complexity projects and tenders.
  • Execute complete engineering assignments for small, medium, or large projects and tenders cost-effectively and in accordance with contract specifications and quality standards.
  • Prepare substation layouts and section drawings, grounding-system drawings, lightning-system designs and drawings, cable routings, bills of materials, requests for quotations, vendor-offer evaluations, and engineering-hour estimates.
  • Visit project sites and perform technical risk assessments and opportunity evaluations.
  • Provide engineering support across projects and tenders in coordination with engineering managers, engineering leads, tendering teams, project managers, supply-chain management, secondary and civil/steel design functions, consultants, and end customers.
  • Lead substation interface engineering with mechanical, electrical, and plumbing and civil functions and resolve complex issues.
  • Lead vendor negotiations and critical discussions.
  • Handle routine technical coordination with customers and consultants.
  • Independently perform tender engineering, including preparing layouts, single-line diagrams, bills of materials, and bills of quantities for major equipment and accessories.
  • Handle primary engineering, follow quality processes, and identify project risks.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Review and optimize substation design calculations and identify risks and cost-effective alternatives.
  • Deliver efficient substation layout documents, identify risks, propose cost-effective alternatives, and support capability building within the team.
  • Review documents through Revit and make minimal drawing modifications through AutoCAD.
  • Lead the project engineering team when required.

As part of the agreement, Daikin Chemical Europe GmbH, a subsidiary of Daikin Industries, Ltd., will supply C4-FN, a specialty gas component used in insulating gas mixtures. The C4-FN will be produced by Daikin Refrigerants Frankfurt GmbH at its facility in Frankfurt, Germany, leveraging advanced manufacturing capabilities, high quality, and environmental standards. The new production capacity will become available in 2027 and is part of a resilient global supply strategy for critical materials used in Hitachi Energy's SF[6] -free EconiQ technology. SF[6], a strong greenhouse gas with a global warming potential 24,300 times greater than CO[2], is commonly used in high-voltage equipment for its superior insulation and switching properties. Utilizing C4-FN gas, the EconiQ portfolio reduces CO[2] -equivalent emissions by 99 percent compared with conventional SF[6] -insulated equipment, while retaining the same technical performance, reliability, and compactness. The announcement comes as demand for EconiQ continues to grow worldwide. The portfolio has attracted more than 4,000 orders across 40 countries, as utilities and industries expand and modernize their power grids while eager to reduce the environmental impact of their infrastructure. To support this growth, Hitachi Energy is pursuing a multi-sourcing strategy for key materials. The addition of Daikin as a supplier strengthens the supply chain behind the EconiQ portfolio, complementing existing qualified sources in Asia with capacity in Europe. The winners were selected from a record-high number of applications in 2026. Enerin was singled-out for its HoegTemp industrial heat pump, which produces steam up to 250°C from waste heat, seawater or ambient sources, while simultaneously being able to deliver deep cooling from the same machine. The machine can cut energy use by an estimated 50-70 per cent with zero emissions when using renewable-sourced electricity. The jury pointed to the HoegTemp's ability to tackle one of industry's hardest decarbonisation challenges - high-temperature process heat - with a single integrated system that replaces separate boiler and cooling infrastructure. By combining heat pumps, thermal energy storage (both heat and cooling) and biogas boilers, fossil-fuelled boilers can be phased out while requiring only a fraction of the energy and power capacity that electric boilers would require. Hitachi Energy has launched new technology additions to its EconiQ high-voltage portfolio at the CIGRE 2026 trade show in Paris, helping utilities move away from sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) in power grids. Recent order wins come from the North American TSOs Wesco and HydroOne Networks as well as the German grid News in brief. Aug 24 - Singapore's Economic Development Board (EDB) has provisionally allocated 200 MW of new data centre capacity to Digital Realty, Equinix, Keppel Data Centres and ST Telemedia Global Data Centres, with each receiving 50 MW for facilities on Jurong Island. All sites will be developed within JTC's planned low-carbon data centre park on Jurong Island, and operators must source more than 50% of their capacity from green or low-carbon energy such as biomethane, low-carbon ammonia or hydrogen.
