Requirements
- A minimum of one year of previous experience as a Medical Administrative Assistant or Secretary in a healthcare practice, such as a therapy or rehabilitation department, physician practice, or other clinic environment.
- Excellent communication, organization, and multitasking skills.
- Knowledge of insurance processes, benefit verification, and therapy authorization requirements.
- Proficiency in electronic medical record systems and scheduling software.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work as a team member in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment.
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to effectively communicate with all age levels served within the scope of the position or assigned areas.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position without posing a direct threat to workplace health and safety, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a primary point of contact for patients seeking rehabilitation services, including physical, occupational, and speech therapy.
- Professionally handle incoming calls.
- Schedule appointments.
- Address patient inquiries.
- Obtain and verify insurance authorizations.
- Support and collaborate with the clinical therapist team.
- Maintain accuracy and confidentiality in a fast-paced therapy environment.
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of medical terminology and understanding of rehabilitation services.
- Previous experience scheduling patient appointments and managing high call volume.
- Experience verifying insurance eligibility, obtaining authorizations, or handling referrals.
- Strong customer service, active listening, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize effectively, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
