Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or an equivalent field.
  • Security+ certification is required.
  • At least 5 years of progressive cybersecurity experience, with a focus on federal Information Assurance and the Risk Management Framework.
  • Experience working within federal agency guidelines and navigating internal and external audit cycles.
  • Practical understanding of NIST SP 800-53 Revision 4/5 security controls and the seven-step Risk Management Framework process.
  • Experience authoring and defending System Security Plans, Risk Assessment Reports, and Plans of Action and Milestones.
  • Ability to translate DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides and CIS Benchmarks into technical requirements for operating systems, databases, and network devices.
  • Experience operating and analyzing enterprise scanning tools, specifically Tenable Nessus, SecurityCenter, or ACAS.
  • Experience using Security Information and Event Management platforms and security dashboards to monitor logs, correlate events, and isolate anomalies.
  • Ability to conduct technical Security Impact Analyses for proposed system, hardware, or software changes.
  • Technical background sufficient to liaise between IT personnel and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of implementing security controls on Windows and Linux systems in onsite and cloud environments, including Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to complete a NOAA/Stennis Space Center and NASA background investigation for site or system access.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain facility credentials or authorization and a Public Trust clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship or a valid Green Card is required for facility credentials or authorization at this work location.
Responsibilities
  • Support the Information System Security Officer in maintaining Risk Management Framework artifacts, including System Security Plans, Risk Assessment Reports, and Plans of Action and Milestones.
  • Lead technical teams through internal and external security audits and the annual Assessment and Authorization process.
  • Gather audit evidence, document audit paths, and drive remediation actions to maintain continuous Authority to Operate.
  • Execute routine vulnerability scans using enterprise tools such as Tenable Nessus and ACAS.
  • Guide technical teams in hardening operating systems, databases, and network devices according to DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides and CIS Benchmarks.
  • Perform Security Impact Analyses for proposed hardware, software, and configuration changes to evaluate risk and compliance with NIST SP 800-53 controls.
  • Monitor system logs to identify, isolate, and mitigate potential threats across hybrid infrastructure.
  • Translate complex security controls into actionable requirements for IT personnel and communicate risk and compliance status to non-technical stakeholders and leadership.
  • Keep related documentation current.
