  • Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and improve team performance.
  • Strong ownership mindset and ability to manage risk and dependencies.

  • Partner with product, design, and engineering teams to solve complex problems, drive technical direction, and improve system performance, reliability, and user experience.
  • Build cloud-native, event-driven services on AWS using Java/Spring Boot and TypeScript/Node.js with Angular on the frontend.
  • Handle student data responsibly in accordance with FERPA.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and act as the escalation point for complex production incidents; own availability, mean time to recovery (MTTR), and change-success outcomes for the team’s services.
  • Lead migrations and modernization within the domain, including framework/library upgrades, service re-platforming, and database changes, and manage the team’s technical-debt landscape.
  • Challenge incomplete, conflicting, or infeasible requirements and drive root-cause analysis rather than fixing symptoms.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools effectively and responsibly within data-handling and security policies.
  • Lead troubleshooting and resolution of production incidents, including on-call response, and drive post-incident improvements that prevent recurrence.
  • Own the quality, performance, reliability, and accessibility (WCAG/ADA) of student-facing systems within the domain.
  • Ensure accessibility (WCAG/ADA) in student-facing applications.
