About the company

4AG Robotics sells autonomous harvesting robots designed for mushroom farms. The vision-guided robots pick, trim, and pack mushrooms around the clock and can retrofit onto existing Dutch-rack shelving to avoid new farm infrastructure; they use AI vision, precision suction grippers, and motion control, while collecting data to map mushrooms and optimize yields. The company differentiates itself by focusing on the mushroom sector, offering retrofit-compatible automation with data-driven insights, including disease detection to protect quality. Its goal is to scale manufacturing, expand globally, and help growers reduce labor costs and increase production efficiency.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • 4AG raised C$40 million on July 29, 2025, after C$17.5 million in 2023.
  • The company sold 53 robots by July 2025 and held deposits for 40 more.
  • New capital funds AI yield optimization, disease detection, and manufacturing expansion in Salmon Arm.

What critics are saying

  • Mushroom farms can switch vendors; losing Highline, Monaghan, or South Mill would crush demand.
  • Production sold out through February 2026 creates delivery risk if manufacturing slips in 2026.
  • A failed U.S. or Netherlands launch would stall expansion and expose 4AG’s narrow category dependence.

What makes 4AG Robotics unique

  • 4AG’s autonomous harvesters retrofit existing Dutch-rack farms, avoiding costly greenhouse rebuilds.
  • Its robots pick, trim, and pack mushrooms 24/7 with vision-guided suction grippers.
  • By May 2026, Nick Pattinson replaced Sean O’Connor, sharpening execution for global scale.
