- An Associate’s Degree in a related field and/or five years of experience in intellectual/developmental disabilities or related supervisory or management experience in a residential setting.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Promote the independence and self-determination of individuals using person-centered practices that focus on their strengths, preferences, and needs.
- Manage individuals’ holistic healthcare, nutrition, and wellness, including tracking appointments and communicating with the CMS, nurse, relevant doctors, and managers.
- Coordinate recreation and community activities that promote individuals’ participation and independence.
- Encourage individuals’ independence and relationship building within the community and with natural supports.
- Manage and direct the overall flow of the shift, including assigning staff to appropriate individual ratios.
- Supervise direct support professionals and shift supervisors while promoting learning and development through continual coaching and mentoring.
- Model behaviors that support individuals’ independence and aspirations.
- Ensure health and safety requirements are observed, including maintaining a stimulating and comfortable physical environment.
- Coordinate transportation activities for the residence to facilitate individuals’ participation in recreational activities and medical appointments.
- Manage individuals’ personal property and their ability to access personal items.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies within mandatory time frames.
- Support the organization’s mission, vision, and values and perform additional responsibilities as deemed necessary by the Program Director or designee.
- AMAP certification.
- SCIP-R certification.
- CPR and First Aid certification; the employer provides on-the-job training for these certifications.
- Behavior Technician training.
- Computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite and Windows.
S:US helps New Yorkers who face homelessness, disability, behavioral health and addiction challenges, poverty, criminal justice involvement, and trauma access a wide range of supports across New York City and Long Island. It coordinates services such as case management, housing and stabilization, behavioral health treatment, recovery supports, rehabilitation, advocacy, and community-based programs tailored to each person’s needs. By linking housing, health, justice, and community resources, S:US delivers integrated, place-based services that address multiple barriers at once rather than focusing on a single issue. The goal is to help people lead purposeful lives, improve neighborhoods, and break the cycle of poverty for current and future generations of New Yorkers.
