What believers are saying

  • Lindsay Goldberg’s capital can fund acquisitions and automation after the December 2025 closing.
  • EMCO serves essential industrial markets, reducing cyclicality versus single-end chemical distributors.
  • A larger private-equity platform strengthens purchasing power and negotiating leverage with suppliers.

What critics are saying

  • Lindsay Goldberg closed December 9, 2025, starting a private-equity hold-period on EMCO.
  • Brown v. EMCO Chemical Distributors, Inc., filed May 15, 2025, signals labor and compliance exposure.
  • Founder Edward Polen’s retirement and Frank Bergonzi’s board takeover can trigger culture loss and churn.

What makes EMCO unique

  • EMCO Chemical Distributors supplies 5,000 SKUs across agriculture, pharma, food, coatings, and water.
  • Its seven facilities span Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Quebec, and Toronto, enabling cross-border service.
  • Distribution, blending, and packaging together create stickier customer relationships than pure wholesalers.
