Assistant Superintendent
About the job
- A bachelor's degree or at least 3 years of relevant experience in commercial construction is required; experience in interior or high-end renovation projects is preferred.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting commercial construction plans and specifications is required.
- An OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety and Health Certification is required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), Microsoft Project, and Procore is preferred but not required.
- Strong organizational and communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively on site are required.
- Support the Superintendent in managing daily site operations, including trade coordination, material tracking, and safety compliance.
- Maintain proficiency in document control tools and processes to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
- Track procurement items from submittal through delivery and site installation.
- Apply knowledge of JRM safety procedures and protocols and enforce compliance on site.
- Read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings and design comments, and communicate relevant information to appropriate parties.
- Supervise designated trades and work areas within the project scope.
- Cover the jobsite in the Superintendent’s absence, identifying and resolving safety or project issues with subcontractors and building staff.
- Prepare and manage construction administration tasks, including submittal and RFI processes, meeting minutes, progress tracking, and safety paperwork.
- Coordinate building access, delivery schedules, and site logistics.
- Communicate with multiple stakeholders, adapting messaging for varied audiences.
- Use construction software and Microsoft Office tools to support project documentation and communication.
- Serve as an assistant to one Superintendent on small to medium projects, or as part of a team supporting multiple Superintendents on larger projects.
