Requirements
  • Completion of 2,000 hours of paid on-the-job training with a Medical Assistant coach.
  • Completion of 364 hours of supplemental coursework.
  • Attendance at required in-person lab days and certification testing.
  • Ability to track and submit training hours and skill documentation.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required, and candidates must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Eligibility to participate in a Washington State-approved Medical Assistant apprenticeship program.
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation and basic life support certification are required.
  • Human immunodeficiency virus/AIDS training is required.
  • Ability to commit time outside of work hours for coursework.
Responsibilities
  • Room patients and obtain histories and vital signs.
  • Track and document clinical quality measures in the electronic health record, including HEDIS and UDS.
  • Assist providers with examinations, minor procedures, and charting.
  • Administer immunizations and medications according to standing orders and scope of practice.
  • Coordinate laboratory services, referrals, and specialty care.
  • Prepare examination rooms and maintain infection control standards.
  • Participate in care team huddles and support patient flow.
  • Provide customer service using the AIDET model.
Desired Qualifications
  • Ambulatory or primary care experience is preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish ability is preferred.
