CCMA Announces Appointment of Steve Blood as Research Director. CCMA Announces Appointment of Steve Blood as Research Director - Former Gartner Vice-President and Analyst to take up post with immediate effect Steve Blood is considered one of the most experienced and respected advisory authorities on the contact centre industry Appointment follows retirement of incumbent CCMA Research Director, Stephen Yap The CCMA (Contact Centre Management Association) has announced the appointment of Steve Blood as its new Research Director. Steve is one of the contact centre industry's most experienced and respected advisory authorities on customer operations, with more than 35 years of insight spanning operational performance, contact centre technology and customer experience. Having spent more than 20 years as a Vice President and Analyst at Gartner, Steve has advised customer experience and contact centre leaders around the world on technology strategy, operational improvement and investment decisions. During his time at Gartner, Steve authored and contributed to some of the industry's most influential research, including the Magic Quadrant for Contact Center as a Service, market guides, strategic forecasts and best practice research covering customer service, digital engagement, analytics, automation and AI. His work earned recognition as a trusted source of insight for both technology providers and enterprise customer service organisations. Steve will replace the CCMA's outgoing Research Director, Stephen Yap, who has announced his retirement. The appointment comes at a vital time for UK contact centres, with a number of competing and disrupting forces presenting significant challenges for industry leaders, including the introduction of AI, difficult economic headwinds and the ongoing evolution of workforce practices. Against this backdrop, the CCMA's position as a respected authority for credible industry research is more important than ever. Leigh Hopwood, CEO, CCMA, commented, "It is with great enthusiasm that we announce Steve's appointment as CCMA Research Director," "Steve is one of the most respected voices in our industry, and his deep understanding of its challenges and its opportunities will be invaluable to our members as they navigate a period of real change." "It has been a pleasure to work with Stephen Yap to evolve the CCMA's reputable research programme over the past six years, and I would like to thank him for his outstanding contribution. We look forward to building on those strong foundations with Steve, whose fantastic experience and global perspective will ensure our research continues to give contact centre leaders the credible, practical insight they need to understand the direction of travel in our industry and make decisions with confidence." "I'm delighted to be joining the CCMA as Research Director," said Steve Blood. "Stephen Yap and the CCMA team have built a strong reputation for producing research that is independent, credible and grounded in operational reality. In an industry that is often overwhelmed by noise and competing claims, that role has never been more important. "Organisations are under pressure to improve customer experience, increase efficiency and understand where technologies such as AI can genuinely add value. My focus will be on delivering research and insight that helps leaders make confident decisions based on evidence, not hype." Steve will take up his post as Research Director with immediate effect.

Gartner says Enterprise Risk management Leaders Should target three key innovations in risk reporting. LONDON, September 29, 2026 ERM Leaders Should Introduce AI-Generated, More Timely and Quantified Risk Insights Enterprise risk management (ERM) teams should make greater use of AI-generated risk insights, according to Gartner, Inc., a business and technology insights company. They should also work to incrementally quantify and improve the timeliness of risk insights to make them more actionable and keep pace with today's rapidly changing risk conditions. Elliott Long, Director Analyst in the Gartner Audit & Risk Practice, speaking at the Gartner Enterprise Risk, Audit & Compliance Conference 2026 in London today, explained how improvements in these three key areas can improve risk reporting (See Figure 1.) Elliot Long, Director Analyst, Gartner presenting at the Gartner Enterprise Risk, Audit & Compliance Conference 2026 in London today "Risk reporting is often too repetitive, too slow or too subjective to help decision making," said Long. "The risk environment has changed with more risks at a faster pace than ever before. ERM teams must innovate if they are to keep up." Figure 1: Use AI to generate new Risk Insights. ERM teams should go beyond streamlining reports and visualizing data by using AI to detect trends, uncover risk dependencies and recommend potential risk responses. In one example presented during the session, an organization used AI to analyze 100,000 records in 20 seconds, bringing new insights into fraud events and the effectiveness of key controls into its risk reporting. "AI can generate new insights for risk reporting, not just provide efficiency," said Long. "Efficiency and insight generation don't have to be mutually exclusive. You can get both at the same time." Move toward More Timely Risk Insights. Quarterly reporting remains important, but it may not provide decision-makers with sufficiently timely information when risk conditions change between scheduled committee meetings. ERM teams should connect risk indicators with business performance data, so everyone can see how changing risk exposure is affecting operations. "Bringing risk updates closer to real time enables an ongoing dialogue with the business about performance and risk together," said Long. "Even relatively simple improvements, like pre-defining trigger events and the associated required actions, can help ERM teams move from retrospective reporting towards predictive risk insights that have clear actionability." Quantify risks to improve decision making. Expressing selected risks in monetary terms gives executives a more consistent basis for comparing risk exposures, evaluating mitigation investments and making strategic decisions. "ERM teams can overcome stakeholder skepticism by quantifying risks, starting with one small pilot," said Long. "This risk quantification pilot could focus on a single risk or business decision where the available information is strong, and the results can support capital investments." Long emphasized that the goal is to incrementally improve the value of risk reporting to decision-makers rather than attempting to transform every element at once. ERM leaders should begin with one practical improvement to their reporting, whether using AI to uncover new insights, moving toward more timely updates or piloting risk quantification.
