Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • One to three years of experience in a similar position is required.
  • Specialized training in catering is required.
  • ServSafe Certification is required.
  • Choke Safety Certification is required.
  • Allergen Awareness Certification (Massachusetts) is required.
  • TIPS Alcohol Certification is required.
  • The employee must be able to sit, reach, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push, pull, and lift items weighing 40 pounds or less.
  • The employee may be required to stand for long periods and must have manual dexterity, auditory and visual skills, and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with planning, executing, and coordinating catering events according to client standards in conjunction with the Chef Manager or Chef.
  • Oversee catering services to ensure client and customer satisfaction.
  • Meet with prospective clients to review event requirements and execution, including menu creation, setup and breakdown requirements, and scheduling, as needed.
  • Assist with setting up and breaking down catering events, including seating arrangements, decorations, and food displays, and supervise staff during event execution.
  • Inspect supplies, equipment, and work areas for compliance with established standards, and arrange equipment purchases or repairs.
  • Purchase food and other supplies as needed, ensure quality-control practices for receiving products, and maintain vendor relationships, as applicable.
  • Assist with determining staffing requirements and scheduling to ensure timely service delivery.
  • Maintain company standards for safety, food handling, sanitation, uniform guidelines, and productivity.
  • Assist with event menu writing and cost control using appropriate recipes and costing measures in conjunction with the Chef Manager or Chef.
  • Ensure food quality and standards at all catering events and assist with food production as needed.
  • Supervise all aspects of catering operations.
  • Adhere to budgetary guidelines determined by the Chef Manager or Chef.
  • Record production or operational data on specified forms and maintain records of food use and expenditures.
  • Assist with financial recordkeeping for catering operations and inventory management, as applicable.
  • Instruct, train, and supervise cooks or other workers in food preparation, cooking, garnishing, presentation, and service, as applicable.
  • Provide customer service by being attentive and approachable and by greeting and thanking customers.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • A culinary school certificate or degree is preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.
