About the job

Requirements
  • At least 3 years of professional software engineering experience delivering features independently in a production environment.
  • Solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, and software design fundamentals.
  • Proficiency with Git, Docker, automated testing, and modern scripting languages.
  • Active daily use of AI-assisted development tools.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Hands-on experience building software integrating large language models, such as LLM APIs, agent frameworks, or retrieval-augmented generation pipelines, in production or substantial personal or open-source projects.
  • Production experience with Python; TypeScript is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience in at least one of LLM observability and tracing, LLM evaluation and testing, agent frameworks and multi-agent orchestration, or application security testing, with interest in developing the other areas.
  • Experience with distributed tracing or observability tooling in a production system.
  • Strong automated testing instincts, including interest in testing systems that can produce different answers on repeated runs.
  • Experience running workloads on Azure or AWS, including identity and access management, networking, and secrets management.
Responsibilities
  • Build tracing across the platform gateway, orchestration, memory, and tool layers, following designs from the team lead and architects.
  • Build correlation linking actions across agents in a single multi-agent workflow, including handoffs, parallel branches, and retries.
  • Build a developer-facing trace view that makes a full agent conversation readable to someone who did not write the agent.
  • Build an explanation layer that turns trace data into a human-readable account of why an agent acted as it did.
  • Build platform primitives that product teams surface to end users, including explanation records, confidence and provenance metadata, and summaries of what the agent relied on.
  • Partner with product engineers on the Document Request Agent and MLM agents to deploy those primitives in real products.
  • Iterate on the explanation format based on feedback from product teams and customer-facing staff.
  • Evaluate and integrate open-source observability, tracing, and evaluation frameworks into the platform runtime.
  • Extend frameworks for agent workload needs and contribute fixes and extensions upstream where appropriate.
  • Build trust and explainability tooling gaps not provided by the ecosystem.
  • Build and maintain platform evaluation framework components, including golden dataset management, test runners, scoring pipelines, and regression reporting.
  • Build tooling to create and version golden datasets from de-identified real traffic and synthetic cases.
  • Run model and prompt comparisons for shared platform components and report the changes.
  • Build red-team and adversarial test suites for prompt injection, jailbreak attempts, tool misuse, and data exfiltration, and run them in the platform release process.
  • Build an automated test suite proving agents on the shared runtime cannot cross tenant boundaries through memory, retrieval, tool calls, or model context.
  • Share red-team findings and new attack patterns with Security Operations and incorporate its threat models into platform tests.
  • Participate in design discussions and code reviews, giving and receiving feedback constructively.
  • Support onboarding of L1 AI Engineer teammates, share context, and help them get unblocked.
  • Contribute documentation that reduces tribal knowledge on the team.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with OpenTelemetry, including GenAI semantic conventions, or OpenLLMetry.
  • Experience with LLM observability and evaluation tools such as Langfuse, Arize Phoenix, LangSmith, Braintrust, promptfoo, DeepEval, or equivalent.
  • Contributions to open-source AI observability, evaluation, or agent framework projects.
  • Experience with cloud-managed model services such as AWS Bedrock or Azure OpenAI.
  • Experience building or operating multi-tenant SaaS systems where tenant isolation was a hard requirement.
  • Prior experience in financial services, fintech, or another regulated industry where explainability shaped technical decisions.
  • Experience building developer-facing debugging or visualization tools.

MeridianLink's AI document agent goes live with three lenders.

MeridianLink's AI document agent goes live with three lenders. Oct 09, 2026 Managing Editor MeridianLink has begun testing its AI-powered document agent on live loans, with broader availability planned for later this year MeridianLink has put its AI-powered document processing tool to work at three lenders, moving beyond its initial product announcement and into live loan workflows ahead of a broader rollout later this year. The company's Doc Agent for Mortgage is designed to review borrower documents, extract information, identify missing materials, and simplify document requests, reducing the manual work involved in processing loans. JP Kelly, senior vice president of mortgage at MeridianLink, told National Mortgage Professional that three customers are participating in the company's structured early-access program, with plans to expand access before general availability in late fourth-quarter 2026. For now, the company is still measuring how much time the technology actually saves. "Early Access Program participants are measuring time savings on live loans now, and we'll be able to share results once the evaluation is complete," Kelly said in response to questions from NMP. Get the NMP Daily Essential stories, every weekday. The agent is designed to reduce manual data entry by turning multistep processes into a few clicks, according to Kelly. Credit Union of Colorado is among the early adopters. "Doc Agent helps us improve accuracy for our members by filling in application data our team hasn't always had time to prioritize," said Andrew Kotaska, the credit union's director of mortgage lending and member solutions. "It takes real lift off our mortgage staff, and I'm excited to see how the team responds and the member experience improves." The technology operates within the existing MeridianLink Mortgage platform rather than requiring lenders to use a separate AI application. It can assess documents for completeness and quality, extract information for application updates, and translate lending requirements into borrower-friendly document requests. MeridianLink said every AI-generated output must be reviewed and approved by an employee before it affects a loan file. Staff can compare extracted information with the application, review why documents were flagged, and edit borrower requests before sending them. The company also said it does not use customer and borrower data to train AI models and that processing takes place within its encrypted private network. MeridianLink first introduced its embedded AI capabilities in May, outlining plans to integrate task-specific agents into its lending platform. The latest deployment marks the first customer testing phase of that strategy. The rollout comes as loan origination technology providers increasingly build AI-powered automation directly into their platforms rather than offering it through separate applications. MeridianLink plans to introduce a consumer lending version of Doc Agent in early 2027.

MeridianLink launches AI-powered Doc Agent for mortgage lenders to cut manual work

MeridianLink has launched its AI-powered Intelligence Doc Agent for Mortgage with early access customers, with general availability expected in late Q4 2026. The tool, nicknamed "Millie", helps mortgage lenders automate document-intensive processes by reviewing submitted documents, extracting data, and streamlining document requests. Doc Agent is designed to reduce manual work and free up staff to focus on borrowers. It operates within MeridianLink's existing mortgage workflow platform, keeping lending professionals in control whilst handling repetitive tasks in the background. The company plans to expand MeridianLink Intelligence across the lending lifecycle, with Doc Agent for Consumer scheduled for early 2027. Credit Union of Colorado is amongst the early access customers, with its director noting the tool helps improve accuracy and reduces workload for mortgage staff.

FirstClose integrates home equity order management with MeridianLink Mortgage LOS

FirstClose, an Austin-based fintech provider, has launched an integration with MeridianLink to bring home equity order management capabilities into the MeridianLink Mortgage loan origination system. The integration helps lenders managing home equity originations within their mortgage divisions by centralising valuation, settlement ordering, and status tracking. The system allows teams to work within their existing workflow without switching between platforms. FirstClose customers using the order management system have reported an 85% reduction in manual processing and home equity turn times dropping to under two weeks, down from 30 to 60 days. "Lenders that run home equity through their mortgage division have had to stitch together the origination process with tools that were never designed for it," said Tedd Smith, chief executive officer of FirstClose.
