Fred Astaire Dance Studios

View

Fred Astaire Dance Studios franchises ballroom and social-dance studios for adults and youth, with private lessons, group classes and practice sessions. Local instructors teach partner dancing to beginners and experienced students, and no previous dance background or partner is required. The corporate company licenses the brand and supports the network with franchise resources and a defined set of studio offerings. Students use lessons to build skills for social dancing in studios across the United States and abroad. Fred Astaire co-founded the company in 1947, when its first studio opened in New York; the company is headquartered in Enfield, Connecticut.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • Local studios are hiring instructors: six Fred Astaire franchises advertised full-time roles across Ohio and Illinois in October 2026.
  • Instructors have a route to ownership: Fred Astaire outlines a path as short as five years for qualified candidates.
  • Some studios include employment benefits: Fred Astaire's October 2026 careers page lists vacation, health insurance and retirement options.

What critics are saying

  • Employment terms belong to studio owners: Fred Astaire's non-corporate openings make instructors employees of independent franchisees.
  • Teaching extends into evenings: Fred Astaire's franchise FAQ lists weekday hours until 9 p.m. and weekend appointments.
  • Ownership costs require a separate inquiry: Fred Astaire directs instructor-to-owner fee questions to its department rather than publishing figures.

What makes Fred Astaire Dance Studios unique

  • Teaching standards have formal checks: Fred Astaire's International Dance Council runs exams to maintain curriculum standards.
  • Practice extends beyond the studio: Fred Astaire's Online Trophy System gives enrolled students level-based patterns for home use.
  • The network sells experiences beyond lessons: Fred Astaire organizes dance trips and runs a branded store.
