Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Audiology Assistant Certification must be completed within the first three months of employment.
  • At least six years of relevant experience is required.
  • Complete assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
  • Analyze, organize, and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
  • Process and handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Work independently and in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities
  • Support the audiologist in audiological testing and evaluation, including the proper fitting of hearing devices and technology.
  • Perform hearing aid orientation, including instruction on insertion, removal, volume adjustment, basic care, and use.
  • Demonstrate care and maintenance of hearing devices to patients and caregivers.
  • Train and provide professional advisement to Audiology Assistants 1 and 2, and delegate tasks as dictated by clinical needs.
  • Submit signed consents to healthcare centers to retrieve medical records, pathology slides, x-rays, and other pertinent reports.
  • Prepare treatment rooms and provide patients with basic instructions about examination procedures.
  • Assist with examinations by preparing supplies and handing instruments and materials to the audiologist as directed.
  • Clean and sterilize instruments using sterile technique.
  • Maintain accurate and complete patient records and documentation.
  • Organize and stock audiology rooms with specialty supplies, and discard expired supplies.
  • Evaluate clinic organization and cleanliness, check hand-sanitizer dispensers, and report refill or deep-cleaning needs.
  • Perform clerical duties such as answering phone calls and maintaining records.
  • Use IDX RIS/PACS to track patient arrival times and advise front-desk personnel of patient delays.
  • Greet patients and verify patient information upon arrival.
  • Direct patients to the clinic or audiology room and ensure they are ready for the provider.
  • Copy completed patient paperwork, deliver originals to the front desk for scanning, and distribute copies to appropriate reading rooms.
  • Assist with distributing patient label stickers in Audiology.
  • Perform daily biologic checks of audiological equipment and document and report equipment problems.
  • Report unusual incidents promptly to appropriate supervisory personnel.
  • Follow University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets.
