- Pediatric experience is required, with at least 2 years of independent pediatric clinical experience as an advanced practice provider outside of rotations, or at least 1 year of urgent care or emergency medicine experience.
- An active American Nurses Credentialing Center Board Certification or National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants Certification is required.
- An active registered nurse license, if applicable, and nurse practitioner or physician assistant state licenses are required for each state where patients are treated.
- A Master of Science in Nursing, doctoral degree in Nursing, or Master of Physician Assistant Studies is required.
- The ability to think critically, multitask, and work as part of a multidisciplinary team is required.
- Excellent computer skills and experience with an electronic medical record system are required.
- The ability to communicate effectively both verbally and nonverbally is required.
- Provide assessment and evidence-based treatment for acute injuries and illnesses in pediatric in-person and telemedicine patients, including febrile infants and children, ear, nose, and throat infections, pediatric abdominal pain, anaphylaxis, procedural anxiolysis, respiratory distress, croup, and asthma.
- Perform common urgent care procedures, including abscess drainage, foreign body removal, and laceration repair using sutures, staples, and dermal adhesive.
- Obtain and provide preliminary interpretations of radiographs, with radiologist over-reads where applicable.
- Oversee daily operations and patient flow for in-person and telemedicine visits, including oversight of other providers, staff, and trainees on shift.
- Adhere to established policies and procedures and proactively report necessary changes to the management team.
- Collaborate with on-site and telemedicine teams to complete daily tasks, including laboratory and radiology result review, patient follow-up, and timely responses to patient calls and questions.
- Enforce safety protocols, uphold quality standards, and ensure compliance with legal regulations.
- Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act regulations.
- Update knowledge and skills through internal training, continuing education, professional publications, and participation in professional organizations.
- Contribute to service recovery efforts by assisting staff and patients with complaints.
- Use efficiency metrics to improve urgent care flow, antibiotic stewardship, and patient experience.
- Pediatric emergency department, general pediatrics, or urgent care experience is preferred.
- Experience with the eClinicalWorks electronic medical record system is preferred.
