Responsibilities: As a Principal Computer Vision Engineer, you will be responsible for the following:

• Model Training: Utilize your expertise to train and optimize large-scale machine learning models for computer vision and multimodal applications.
• Testing and Deployment: Lead the testing and deployment efforts for computer vision and multimodal models, ensuring robustness and reliability in real-world scenarios.
• Algorithm Development: Work on the design and implementation of algorithms for computer vision and multimodal tasks, demonstrating creativity and problem-solving skills.
• Python Proficiency: Demonstrate proficiency in Python programming language for efficient and scalable implementation of computer vision and multimodal solutions.
• Mathematical Background: Leverage your strong mathematical background, including advanced math classes or a minor in math, to contribute to the development and optimization of ML and performance algorithms for running models on SambaNova hardware.
• Develop applications on top of vision and multimodal models to serve as customer references, including but not limited to zero-shot classification, similarity search, etc.
• Drive initiatives and collaborate with executive teams, product management, engineering compiler and NLP teams to develop roadmaps, co-design vision and multimodal (LMM, VLM) models. 

Qualifications: To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:

• 8 plus years of hands-on engineering experience in machine learning developing computer vision applications. Including the management of ML experimentation and production deployment of ML solutions.
• Experience with one or more deep learning frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, Caffe2, or Theano.
• Experienced pre-training CLIP, MAE or MIM, modifying ViT models, evaluating differences between different ViT type architectures (SWIN, Hira, 3D ViT). 
• Working in a distributed computing environment.
• A deep theoretical or empirical understanding of deep learning.
• Experience building and deploying machine learning models.
• Strong analytical and debugging skills.
• Experience tech leading small teams.
• Experience acting as the point of contact for product teams.
• Experience in Python and/or C++.
• BS, MS, or Ph.D. in Computer Science in engineering or science fields.

Annual Salary Range and Level

The base salary for this position ranges from $180,000/year up to $210,000/year. This range is based on role, level, and location and reflects the salary target for new hires in the US. Individual pay within the range will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate’s job-related qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location.
