Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree in engineering, science, or business management, or an accredited high school certificate plus 8 years of specialized experience in engineering, science, or business management.
  • Fourteen years of directly applicable successful experience consulting or contributing on complex projects, including providing strategic, management, technical, or business assistance to significant projects or programs in a senior capacity and/or as a consultant.
  • Significant demonstrated expertise with the execution of Department of Energy Order 425.1D, Verification of Readiness to Startup or Restart Nuclear Facilities, in the startup of complex and high-risk nuclear facilities.
  • Performance in key positions in work to achieve readiness and verify readiness to safely operate complex, high-risk nuclear facilities.
  • Executive experience with direct interface with senior management.
  • Expert knowledge of Department of Energy orders, standards, policies, and procedures providing requirements and guidance for safe startup of nuclear facilities.
  • Knowledge of the Hanford Site mission, activities, and priorities.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Word; proficiency with Adobe Acrobat, data analytic tools, and Visio.
  • Ability to manage projects and actions and prioritize tasks.
Responsibilities
  • Plan strategic activities required for the Office of River Protection to achieve readiness and verify readiness for radioactive operations.
  • Mentor Office of River Protection staff and management in conducting activities to achieve readiness and verify readiness to safely conduct nuclear operations.
  • Provide professional counsel on developing and implementing a Readiness Program from Line Management’s perspective.
  • Provide expert advice and counsel on improvements to the Office of River Protection’s readiness program.
  • Promote coordination among all relevant functions related to readiness in the Office of River Protection to safely conduct nuclear operations.
  • Develop and revise the Certification and Verification Plan.
  • Mentor Office of River Protection core requirement and functional leads in developing and executing core requirement oversight strategies.
  • Provide expert, strategic guidance in Line Management Review Board activities.
  • Develop training curricula and implement them for Office of River Protection staff to achieve line management readiness and verify contractor readiness.
  • Process all deliverables through the COD Division Director before internal or external publication and availability.
Desired Qualifications
  • An MS/MA or PhD degree in a relevant field may substitute for two or five years of experience, respectively.
