Requirements
  • A master's degree in social work, mental health counseling, or a related field.
  • At least two years of experience in human services.
  • Working knowledge of the current version of the American Psychiatric Association's Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.
  • Working knowledge of intake, interviewing, and assessment practices.
  • Ability to develop and maintain working relationships with employees and providers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to develop effective documentation.
  • Understanding of and competence in serving culturally, ethnically, and socially diverse populations.
  • Understanding of social determinants of health and commitment to crisis intervention in the context of whole-person care.
  • A valid United States driver's license, adequate insurance when using a personal vehicle, and a safe driving record subject to screening.
  • Ability to meet the physical and communication demands of direct care work, including lifting at least 25 pounds.
  • CPR certification within two weeks of hire.
  • First Aid certification within two weeks of hire.
  • Certified Peer Support Specialist training within six months of hire.
  • VBH NET training.
  • Ability to obtain or maintain LCSW, LICSW, or LMHC credentials in the state of service, although these credentials are preferred rather than required.
Responsibilities
  • Ensure a trauma-informed environment that promotes safety and recovery.
  • Provide psychiatric and substance use evaluations for individuals and families in crisis in community, clinic, and residential settings.
  • Provide crisis intervention services, including crisis case management and short-term crisis counseling as follow-up from initial evaluation.
  • Maintain linkages with community services through documented case consultations and problem resolution, and recommend and support access to service options.
  • Perform warm handoffs to other services, full-time mobile crisis intervention staff and clinicians, and care coordination entities.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of managed care and health insurance systems and provide clinicians with relevant information and resources.
  • Maintain necessary documentation and records.
  • Participate in supervision and staff meetings.

  • Experience working in a behavioral health community-based outpatient setting or an acute or diversionary behavioral health setting.
  • LCSW, LICSW, or LMHC credentials in the state of service.
