About the job
- The candidate must be actively enrolled in an accredited Magnetic Resonance Imaging program and have completed at least six months, with at least second-year standing.
- The candidate must provide documentation of passing basic competency check-off examinations.
- Basic Life Support certification is required.
- The candidate must demonstrate human-relations skills for dealing with patients, physicians, and others in difficult or sensitive situations, including verbal and written communication, problem solving, and assertiveness.
- The candidate must demonstrate a customer-service orientation.
- The candidate must demonstrate leadership and organizational skills, including the ability to work independently and take initiative within established procedures.
- The candidate must demonstrate a positive attitude.
- The candidate must be able to operate basic computer programs used for departmental documentation and record keeping.
- Work on a rotational basis in several areas of the Radiology Department, performing routine radiology examinations and advanced diagnostic procedures.
- Receive or escort patients into the examination area, review pertinent patient information, and instruct patients about the examination.
- Position patients to obtain diagnostic results, set up and adjust supportive and immobilization devices, and apply and adjust radiation-protective shielding.
- Operate diagnostic radiographic equipment to provide optimal diagnostic radiology examinations in accordance with physician orders.
- Consult the radiologist to clarify orders or discuss unusual situations.
- Perform work in the Radiology Department or other areas as necessary to accommodate patient and physician needs.
- Operate all equipment properly and carefully, and immediately report malfunctions, adjustments, or repairs that are needed.
- Assist physicians in administering prescribed radiolucent or radiopaque media for examinations.
- Perform first aid as required and assist with adverse reactions to contrast media or other emergencies.
- Observe and practice sterile technique and prevent cross-contamination of contagious diseases.
- Maintain cleanliness of procedure rooms and equipment.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient and file information.
- Maintain appropriate supply levels in assigned areas.
