Requirements
  • A doctoral degree (PhD, DDS, DMD, DO, MD, or a combination) from an appropriately accredited institution.
  • Human gross anatomy dissection experience.
  • Post-doctoral training and experience through residency or fellowship, with prior academic teaching and research experience.
  • Teaching experience, preferably using a wide range of educational techniques.
  • Ability to contribute to a humanistic environment of learning and discovery.
  • Ability to provide innovative teaching and learning approaches in the health sciences.
  • Ability to establish and maintain research and scholarship activities.
Responsibilities
  • Participate with faculty in teaching gross anatomy didactically and through dissection and learning aids.
  • Develop, implement, deliver, and evaluate instructional content across multiple courses using traditional and interactive teaching methods such as Case Based Learning.
  • Participate actively in evaluating student learning.
  • Create, proctor, and grade exams, quizzes, and other assessments.
  • Evaluate assessments and teaching and learning methods.
  • Conduct research and other scholarly activities supporting qualification for appropriate promotion.
  • Serve as an advisor, coach, and mentor to dental, medical, and biosciences students.
  • Mentor students as part of the candidate’s research endeavors.
  • Participate in developing goals, objectives, policies, and procedures for the College of Dental Medicine and collaborate with other university programs.
  • Participate actively in university meetings as requested.
  • Contribute to the ongoing needs of the College of Dental Medicine and other university colleges and programs.
  • Represent the College of Dental Medicine and university in accordance with established core values and expectations.
  • Perform other duties assigned by supervising faculty or the Dean.
  • Contribute to the education of dental students and professional enrichment activities for faculty.
  • Collaborate with faculty and researchers.
Desired Qualifications
  • Clinical scientists and dual-degree-trained candidates with a clinical and research doctorate.
  • General teaching experience and ability to teach difficult concepts to students at the predoctoral level, as well as extensive research experience.
  • Experience as a course director, team teaching, and mentoring students in research.
  • Effective organization, communication, verbal, and written skills.
  • High proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of software programs and online Learning Management Systems.
