Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a similar degree, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience working with five-axis machine tool controls.
  • Demonstrated experience in laser drilling, laser cutting, laser welding, laser ablation (micromachining), or electrical discharge machining hole drilling.
  • A strong understanding of the principles, operation, and kinematics of five-axis machine tools.
  • Ability to interpret, manipulate, and apply complex three-dimensional geometry.
  • Experience developing machining applications for complex components, preferably in aerospace or industrial gas turbine environments.
  • Familiarity with programmable logic controller and human-machine interface software.
  • Must be a United States citizen or Green Card holder to access customer facilities.
Responsibilities
  • Support trials and programming improvements through software and applications modifications required for particular parts and processes.
  • Manage offsite software activities using standard project management methods, including defining scope, estimating engineering hours, conducting reviews, providing project updates and hour reports, testing at the Rock Hill facility when possible, and delivering and training users on completed work.
  • Lead and support new product introduction activities, transitioning customer products from initial concept and feasibility through validated production-ready processes.
  • Collaborate with customers and internal teams to achieve technical requirements and performance targets.
  • Develop and optimize machine tools and processes using laser ablation, laser drilling, and electrical discharge machining.
  • Support future product and process development.
  • Improve existing processes to enhance quality, efficiency, repeatability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Drive continuous machine and process improvements by implementing innovative solutions, standardizing best practices, and enhancing productivity.
  • Demonstrate machine tools and machining processes to customers and provide technical training as required.
  • Deliver applications support for machine tool contracts and subcontract production programs.
  • Provide hands-on manufacturing engineering support to production teams.
  • Assist with the preparation, analysis, and interpretation of metallurgical samples.
  • Develop technical documentation, reports, and work instructions to support applications development and process transfer.
  • Maintain compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
