Pontera helps financial advisors actively manage and monitor clients’ 401(k) and other retirement accounts by integrating multiple accounts into a single, coherent portfolio for holistic wealth planning. The platform is used by advisors via a subscription service to monitor assets and execute active management, with the aim of achieving higher net returns (average +3.3% per year) compared to passive management. Pontera adds non-discretionary option for advisors to guide 401(k) allocations

Pontera has launched a non-discretionary option allowing advisors to guide clients on 401(k) allocations without directly accessing their accounts. The New York-based firm's new tool, launching in September, provides advisors visibility into client retirement accounts to recommend actions aligned with financial goals. Unlike Pontera's core discretionary service, advisors using the new option cannot access accounts, withdraw funds, or make contributions or beneficiary changes. Instead, it offers guided workflows for participants to follow recommendations themselves. CEO Yoav Zurel said the option provides choice in how retirement savers receive advice, supporting both hands-on and guided approaches. The company said the move responds to advisor and client demand, though it follows tensions with Fidelity Investments over credential-sharing systems. Andrew Besheer of Besheer & Associates viewed it as a concession in battles over account access.
