Requirements
  • A Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing and current appropriate state licensure as a Registered Nurse are required.
  • Six to eight years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • At least 12 months of clinical nursing experience is required.
  • At least six months of chronic or acute dialysis nursing experience is required.
  • The employee must be available full time and provide on-call coverage when necessary.
  • The employee must complete Clinical Manager training modules and ongoing developmental programs within the specified timeline.
  • The employee must demonstrate leadership competencies in communication, customer service, continuous quality improvement, relationship development, results orientation, team building, employee motivation, performance management, and decision-making.
  • The employee must demonstrate management skills necessary to supervise dialysis personnel and ensure maximum quality patient care.
Responsibilities
  • Ensure quality patient care and cost-effective clinical operations in accordance with legal, compliance, regulatory, and company requirements.
  • Manage the tactical execution of short- and long-term objectives, coordinating activities and maintaining responsibility for results, costs, methods, and staffing.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and development plans for direct reports, partnering with Human Resources on employee matters.
  • Support and drive quality standards by meeting ESRD regulatory requirements and practicing Quality Assessment and Improvement using company tools.
  • Address adverse events and action thresholds.
  • Oversee the facility's Home Therapies Program when applicable.
  • Communicate and implement clinical quality policies and procedures for facility staff.
  • Maintain the integrity of medical, administrative, and operational records and complete data collection and auditing activities.
  • Maintain facility environmental integrity and safety.
  • Coordinate all aspects of patient care from admission through discharge.
  • Educate patients about quality measures, transplant options, modality awareness, access care, catheter reduction, and treatment adherence.
  • Serve as a resource for patient concerns and questions.
  • Organize interdisciplinary team meetings to complete patient care assessments and care plans and resolve patient problems.
  • Direct efficient and timely patient scheduling to maximize facility station efficiency.
  • Monitor each patient's clinical situation, including hospitalizations, missed treatments, catheter use, and significant changes in care status.
  • Develop action plans for unexcused and missed treatments in collaboration with the Director.
  • Coordinate patient care under disease management agreements, including member eligibility validation, access management, dialysis services, patient education, hospitalizations, and kidney transplantation.
  • Coordinate care with the multidisciplinary renal team and communicate changes in patient status involving clinical, insurance, travel, and transportation issues to the disease management company.
  • Maintain current knowledge of disease management software and systems.
  • Implement staffing and medical supply models and make recommendations.
  • Participate in recruitment, interviews, and decisions to hire personnel.
  • Ensure completion of new-hire orientation, mandatory in-service training, ICD code training when applicable, and annual training documentation.
  • Ensure patient care employees receive required training and remain compliant with risk-management initiatives.
  • Provide professional growth and training opportunities so licensed staff can assume Team Leader responsibilities.
  • Supervise licensed personnel, direct patient care staff, assigned indirect patient care personnel, and technical staff when necessary.
  • Provide employee education, guidance, and performance feedback; counsel clinical staff and encourage professional growth.
  • Complete employee evaluations, establish annual staff goals, and document disciplinary conferences.
  • Create and maintain efficient employee schedules according to facility needs.
  • Create and implement a Continuous Quality Improvement Process Improvement Team involving staff in problem solving.
  • Facilitate physician privilege applications and compliance with Medical Staff By-Laws.
  • Maintain relationships with the Director and physicians and facilitate staff relationships with physicians.
  • Ensure regular communication with physicians and participate in Governing Body activities and physician CQI meetings.
  • Maintain the integrity and safety of the facility water system and knowledge of facility equipment and technology.
  • Maintain and update company manuals and complete the Annual Standing Order Review and ICD coding.
  • Review correspondence and respond appropriately.
  • Direct information gathering supporting billing and collection activities.
  • Manage medication, laboratory, inventory, supplies, and equipment utilization to meet cost goals and formulary guidelines.
  • Participate in inventory supply-use analysis.
  • Review and approve facility payroll and review profit and loss statements with the Director.
  • Participate in required network reporting and on-site state or federal surveys.
  • Participate in the Administrative Clinical Review.
  • Interact with patients, facility staff, physicians, internal departments, external customers, and subordinate supervisors.
  • Provide technical guidance and resolve technical problems.
  • Travel between assigned facilities and to regional, business-unit, and corporate meetings when required.
Desired Qualifications
  • An advanced degree is desirable.
  • Three or more years of supervisory or project/program management experience is preferred.
  • Experience in medical-surgical or intensive care unit/coronary care unit nursing is preferred.
