Requirements
  • A PhD in Radiological Sciences, Physical Sciences, Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in biomedical imaging and artificial intelligence applications.
  • A strong track record of research productivity and independent funding, or the potential to secure external grants.
  • Experience with machine learning and deep learning frameworks.
  • A strong foundation in statistical analysis, data visualization, and computational modeling.
  • Experience working collaboratively in interdisciplinary research environments.
  • Strong written and oral proficiency in English.
  • Enthusiasm for interdisciplinary collaboration and translational research.
Responsibilities
  • Supervise postdoctoral researchers, students, research assistants, and laboratory interns conducting projects.
  • Lead independent and collaborative research initiatives applying artificial intelligence and advanced imaging techniques to biomedical challenges.
  • Participate in student training and curriculum development.
  • Use Howard University's resources and datasets to address health disparities affecting historically underserved communities, applying artificial intelligence to improve diagnostic, treatment, and prevention strategies.
  • Conduct research across imaging science fields using disease animal models, including brain injury, neurological diseases, developmental disorders, diabetes, and nanomedicine.
  • Use magnetic resonance imaging, magnetic resonance spectroscopy, positron emission tomography/computed tomography, and other imaging modalities in preclinical and clinical applications.
  • Coordinate research collaborations between imaging facilities in Howard University's Molecular Imaging Laboratory.
  • Provide expertise in imaging methods and experimental design, from small-animal imaging to translational clinical imaging studies.
  • Organize training sessions and workshops for researchers interested in using magnetic resonance imaging.
  • Participate in academic, didactic, and professional training through seminars, workshops, and direct meetings with grant faculty.
  • Conduct data collection, statistical analysis, and data interpretation related to the Molecular Imaging Laboratory grant portfolio.
Desired Qualifications
  • Expertise in advanced biomedical imaging modalities, including magnetic resonance imaging, positron emission tomography, computed tomography, and microscopy, with experience integrating artificial intelligence techniques into imaging workflows.
  • Proficiency in programming and operating systems for Bruker magnetic resonance imaging and micro positron emission tomography/computed tomography systems.
  • Teaching or mentoring experience at the undergraduate, graduate, or postdoctoral level.
