About the job
- Current certification in CPR, First Aid, and AED, or ability to obtain it.
- Ability to work in a fitness center environment.
- Ability to arrive promptly for shifts.
- Ability to enforce policies.
- Ability to walk or work in the fitness center and traverse throughout the building, regularly ascending and descending building levels and occasionally using ladders or stools.
- Ability to lift, move, and set up items weighing up to 50 pounds, and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
- Ability to discuss, converse with, and exchange accurate information with arena patrons, staff, and stakeholders.
- Welcome guests to the fitness center, provide customer service, educate patrons, and answer questions about fitness equipment and the facility.
- Control access to the fitness center, verify membership, answer general facility and program questions, and direct members and guests.
- Ensure patrons properly use fitness equipment by approaching and educating members on proper usage and policies, and spotting lifts.
- Assist with preventative maintenance through routine cleaning of fitness equipment, re-aligning equipment, re-racking weights, and straightening activity spaces.
- Restock consumable supplies and patron amenities as needed.
- Maintain building cleanliness by completing assigned checklists in restrooms, lounge areas, and activity spaces.
- Understand and demonstrate competencies in the department Emergency Action Plan, and participate in risk management building audits each semester.
- Attend all staff and monthly meetings, and communicate as needed through email, group messaging, and telephone.
- Assist with events as needed.
