Requirements

Responsibilities
Complete work orders involving replacement of electrical components, repair of plumbing fixtures, repair or replacement of ceiling tiles, repair of leaking roofs, general carpentry, and related activities.
Build new storage space, office space, sidewalks, retaining walls, and hallways.
Inspect rooftops, walls, walkways, light fixtures, windows, and drains for preventive maintenance needs.
Troubleshoot and perform electrical work.
Locate the cause of general building and process system malfunctions.
Perform plumbing tasks involving copper, PVC, brass, and stainless materials.
Evaluate refrigeration system performance and make necessary repairs.
Organize work assignments and small projects involving more than one mechanic.
Monitor the Building Management System (BMS) and Isensix System.
Maintain records and logs.
Prepare reports.
Rotate on-call with other mechanics.
Drive between the six Long Island donor sites as needed using an NYBC vehicle.
Responsibilities
Under general supervision, the mechanically savvy individual we seek will perform a variety of electrical, plumbing and carpentry work, handle general building issues and ensure all equipment runs properly and efficiently.
Responsibilities include:
Completing work orders involving the replacement of electrical components, repairing plumbing fixtures, repairing/replacing ceiling tiles, repairing leaking roofs, general carpentry, and other related activities
Building new storage space, office space, sidewalks, retaining walls, and hallways
Troubleshooting and performing various electrical work
Locating the cause of general building and process system malfunctions
Handling various plumbing tasks involving a variety of materials (copper, PVC, brass and stainless materials)
Evaluating refrigeration system performance and making necessary repairs
Organizing work assignments and small projects where more than one mechanic is needed
Monitor Building management System (BMS) and Isensix System
Maintaining all records and logs
Preparing various reports
Handling other related functions as needed
NOTE:
The mechanic will rotate with other mechanics and be “on call”.
Qualifications
To qualify, you must have a High School Diploma/GED, 2 years’ experience handling general building issues along with the repair and maintenance of equipment.The ability to operate hand/power tools properly and safely is a must, as is strong problem-solving, organizational, multi-tasking and oral/written communication skills.
Valid driver’s license are required
NYBC vehicle will be used to drive between the 6 Long Island donor sites as needed.
Position is overtime eligible and also offers a shift incentive.
For applicants who will perform this position in New York City or Westchester County, the proposed hourly salary is $29.00/hr. to $33.00/hr. For applicants who will perform this position outside of New York City or Westchester County, salary will reflect local market rates and be commensurate with the applicant’s skills, job-related knowledge, and experience.
Unless otherwise specified, all posted opportunities are located in the New York or Greather Tri-State office locations.
