Requirements
  • The candidate must be at least 21 years of age.
  • The candidate must be a high school graduate or have an equivalent qualification.
  • The candidate must have at least three years of relevant experience working with children, families, community programs, and/or hunger response or food systems programs.
  • The candidate must have strong customer service skills and be able to respond to multiple questions by phone, email, and in person.
  • The candidate must be able to problem solve and resolve conflict.
  • The candidate must have strong computer skills and experience with word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.
  • The candidate must demonstrate attention to detail and confidentiality of evaluative information.
  • The candidate must have knowledge of standard office equipment, including copiers and phone systems.
  • The candidate must hold a current state-approved first-aid certification, or complete the training at hire or as soon as possible and no later than 90 days after employment.
  • The candidate must hold a current state-approved infant/child or community CPR certification, or complete the training at hire or as soon as possible and no later than 90 days after employment.
  • The candidate must hold a current Food Safety Handler Card, or complete the training at hire or as soon as possible and no later than 90 days after employment.
  • The candidate must be able to stand, walk, squat, sit, type, bend, reach, twist, perform repetitive hand movements, and drive.
  • The candidate must have adequate hearing for in-person, telephone, and virtual-meeting duties.
  • The candidate must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English fluently.
  • The candidate must have adequate visual acuity for examining printed information and computer screens.
  • The candidate must be able to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move 5 to 50 pounds and occasionally lift above the shoulders.
  • The candidate must be able to travel locally to assigned program sites up to 75% of the time and occasionally work outdoors, evenings, or weekends.
Responsibilities
  • Design and deliver high-quality hunger response programs focused on equity and justice.
  • Maintain professional relationships with families, facility personnel, and the community, and plan and conduct events when needed.
  • Create and shop for supply lists to meet program demands while following budget and financial procedures.
  • Maintain required records according to YMCA standards.
  • Compile program statistics and provide required reports for assigned programs.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in assigned programs.
  • Ensure safety procedures are followed and programs comply with YMCA best practices and applicable standards.
  • Assist with developing and monitoring department budgets.
  • Attend required staff meetings and trainings.
  • Ensure staff are properly screened, trained, supervised, and held accountable to the organization’s abuse risk management standards.
  • Adhere to abuse prevention policies, maintain appropriate boundaries, complete required training, report suspicious or inappropriate behavior, and comply with mandated reporting requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • A college degree is preferred, although other applicable education, training, and experience may be considered.
  • At least three years of demonstrated experience in program development and implementation is preferred.
  • Knowledge of and previous experience with diverse populations, including differences in language, culture, race, physical ability, and sexual orientation, is preferred.
  • The ability to speak a language in addition to English may be helpful.
