Responsibilities
  • Provide site supervision and site-based senior leadership on a PTS construction project.
  • Act as the on-site point of contact for customers, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Maintain safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Understand the contract scope of work and identify field-initiated scope changes and change orders.
  • Lead jobsite safety and foster a safety culture within the crew.
  • Lead jobsite quality efforts and prevent rework, rejected work, or sloppy work.
  • Improve field productivity and complete projects under budget and on time.
  • Balance customer satisfaction with project profitability, including protecting the company regarding scope changes and barrier time.
  • Provide craft knowledge and experience to the crew in areas such as welding, structural erection, tank repair, new tank construction, and rigging.
  • Evaluate field employees, identify promotion candidates, provide guidance and training for their development, and communicate evaluation information to Construction Managers and HR.
  • Assist Construction Managers and HR in recruiting field workers.
  • Care for and maintain tooling and equipment, and promptly call off rented equipment when it is no longer needed.
  • Identify opportunities to improve company practices and resources.
  • Represent PTS professionally and positively to customers and employees.
  • Contribute to pre-construction planning.
  • Communicate with support staff, including Design, Purchasing, Project Management, and Administration.
  • Understand project estimated manhours and scope before work begins, and track progress weekly with the Project Manager using Field Labor Reports.
  • Work with the Safety Specialist, Construction Administration, and HR to ensure employees assigned to upcoming or ongoing work have required training and certifications, including safety training, Department of Transportation requirements, Operator Qualification, welder testing, and site-specific requirements.
  • Complete required paperwork, including daily time sheets, safety and quality audits, customer-required paperwork, and equipment inspections.
  • Advise Project Management of potential problems, work interferences, and schedule difficulties, and assist in resolving them as required.
  • Provide complete final project paperwork to the Design Group for creation of the Final Quality Control Book.
